New to LCF but not to Atkins
Hi everyone!
I started Atkins for life in March and to date have lost 30lbs and dropped three dress sizes. It's been slow but steady and I feel great. Struggling with my last 10lbs. I bumped up the water and my exercise plan. Going to see if this may kick my body back into losing the last pounds. Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated! |

Hi and welcome!
Congratulations on your weight loss! one question I have is: have you cut back on your calories as you've become a smaller person? I think that becomes more of an issue as people get closer to goal. |

Thanks Peanutte! Didn't really think to do that but I will. I travel three weeks a month for my job so I always research the areas I will traveling to for my "safe" restaurants and always stick with the sames foods. I will switch it over to and look for meals with less calories. Hopefully I can report some good results! I feel my goal is just an inch away (they say an inch for every 10lbs right?).
Thanks again! |

dropping 30 pounds has dropped your BMR by 270 cals so it shouldn't be too big a cut back in cals. the increase in exercise should handel the cal issues
Dr Atkins recommends taking 6 months to a yr to lose our last 10 pounds so you are right on target. Make sure you are measuring yourself too cause the UConn study proved that folk eating atkins will be adding new lean body tissue as they shed body fat thus making using the scale to determine your goal difficult. if you can get yoiur body fat measured you can save yourself a huge headache. I was still over weight based on BMI and height weight charts at goal weight but from a dunk tank measure I had less then 15% body fat and was actually underweight.

susan, I agree with what 2big said, and also I don't know what your current calorie intake is, so don't automatically cut back without looking at the whole picture.

Thanks ladies. I am going to stay on target and with the increased activity I am sure I will continue to see results. I am more into the inch loss anyway. Just got fixed on a number I wanted to see on the scale but that isn't realistic. I only weigh once per month anyway. Thanks again ladies.

Hi Smbia,
Well first and foremost, congrats on your 16lbs! That's great! I started in March this year. I know it can be discouraging. Seeing the pounds melt away on the scale is our reward. Every pound lost is cause for celebration. I try to not stay fixated on the amount of pounds but rather inches. Everyone here will say, have you measured. Bust/Waist/Hips. If you measured prior to starting Atkins, see what your results are. I have lost 4 dress sizes and being back into a size 8 is what keeps me motivated. I haven't felt this good in a long time. I did Atkins 6 years ago and lost 44lbs in 4 months. I know as I get older, weight is harder to come off. Best advice I can give is to drill down further into the foods you are eating. Make sure there are no hidden sugars. Coffee, and diet pop can also stall some people. I drink alot of water too! I am in OWL. I don't consume more than 30 net carbs per day. I don't drink and exercise about 5 times per week. Don't give up. Yesterday I setup a Fitday.com account and it a great tool for entering foods eaten daily. I was actually surprised to see my calorie count but then again, I haven't even considered my caloric intake but I am pearing it down just a bit to see if I can kick myself out of my stall. The last 10 are the hardest. I don't care if it takes me 6 months. It will come. As humans, when we want something we want it NOW. Be patient. You are doing great. Maybe post your daily foods and the more experienced members can analyze it for you. Just a thought.......... ![]()
