Sneaky carbs---can you name any????
Hello everyone. I wanted to start this thread because I often find myself completely out of ketosis without having any idea WHY. For example, I was in nice dark pink ketosis for several days running and then suddenly one morning the ketostix was showing neutral. I went back through all my food choices and I'm sure some hidden carbs where in there somewhere, but I wasn't able to identify the specific ingredient. I feel that if I knew more "hidden" or "misnamed" carby ingredients, I can be sure to avoid them and having to struggle through 2 or 3 days just to get back into ketosis. Lets keep it real----If I have to go out of ketosis I would like it to be for a big hunk of birthday cake; not some silly hidden ingredient that I didn't recognize as carby. Thanks for any and all input. I will be reading this thread and taking notes from everyone!!

I try to stick with the basics. I eat raw spinach with full fat ranch dressing. Sometimes I use a little parm cheese and one small roma tomato. I eat a lot of boiled and baked chicken. Some mornings I have bacon and I also eat boiled eggs---but not a lot of them. My DH made smoked salmon on the grill and I went straight out of ketosis after eating it twice. I know my DH used some soy sauce, but I told him to keep it light. Mmmmmmmmm, last week I was showing really dark pink ketones. This week, I'm showing trace. Oh yes, I also eat sausage occasionally, but I know they all have different amounts of carbs in them, so I only have a small amount.
