Losing fat in odd spots
Does anyone else notice that the fat seems to come off different spots of your body from week to week, rather than just a gradual decrease all over? No one told me it would work this way. I feel like this is a strange observation, but it seems like I always notice a part of me actually feeling smaller to my own hands before I can see it in the mirror or see the scale move. And sometimes it is strange parts! LOL Things you don't measure. Like for example, tonight I was sitting here reading with my chin resting in my hand, and I realized I was unconsciously stroking my neck over and over. It occurred to me that it is because I can really feel my neck smaller and my jawbones more prominent than than they were before. Now I'm feeling of my face and it does not feel like my face anymore. It's like it's happened in the past day or two! (I should go try on a necklace that was tight and confirm this!) Last time it was my shoes... I did not notice my shoes were getting loose, but then suddenly one day all of my shoes would not stay on and started slipping on my heels and giving me blisters, so I had to go buy new ones. Or... has anyone ever noticed they've lost weight in a "private" area? LOL (I can't believe I mentioned that, but it really makes me laugh. And yes, I have!
) ...Maybe you have to start off really big and lose a lot to notice these things. I started at 385lbs and am now 318. (Wow. I can't believe I finally admitted that.)It's funny to think about how much we obsess over constantly getting into a smaller size pants, and then don't acknowledge little things like our rings falling off or glasses needing adjusting. These little things actually make me happier and make me feel like a new me is emerging. It also makes me think about all the internal fat around my organs that is probably also shrinking, that I can't see. ![]() |

I know what you mean. At first it was my double chin, then one day I was putting on my tennies and noticed my thighs werent as big as they used to be. Then I went down a shoe size and later got my wedding ring back on after many years. Lately it seems like my stomach is the only thing that isnt getting smaller. I know it has but in relationship to my legs and chest its looking bigger than it used to which is freaking me out. Will my belly be the very last thing? , I'll look weirder than now.

Congratulations! I'm so happy for you. Reading your thread just made me feel really good. I recently lost my "muffin top" and I can't stop looking in the mirror---as if I'm afraid it's going to come back!! When you mentioned your jawline, I stopped to feel mine too and I don't have nearly the padding there as I did before.
