hey you only got to get to ketosis to go back to OWL. induction 14 days is not a "punishment" for cheating. Once you are in ketosis you just jump back to where you were in OWL before you fell overboard.

Thanks for the good wishes. I feel so weird, coming in here with my tail between my legs.
I feel normal today (i.e., food isn't shouting at me from the fridge, store, or my dreams). pumpkin and sausage for breakfast, tuna quiche and cole slaw for lunch...not sure about dinner. I batch cooked yesterday and made: salmon burgers, tuna quiche, turnips, green beans, broccoli... |

2big - you are totally right! I guess I'm not really thinking of it as punishment - or even "dreading" it. I'm actually looking forward to the feeling of having all the sugar and other crap out of my body!
I just re-heated my leftover cheeseburger and then tilted the plate over the sink to let the grease run off and the whole thing slid right into the sink! Oh well... good thing I brought backups! I must have had a psychic moment this morning! |

Aargh, what a nightmare, Chase. If that happened to me I'd have to dive in the fridge for eggs, eggs, eggs.
![]() I was disappointed with the ribs I had last night, they seems to be all bone and no meat. I've got two more lots made for dinners later this week, so it's a good thing I do have lots of eggs on hand. Today's OWL menu. b: 3 fried eggs, 50 grams of strawbs and 50 grams of fage. Coffee with cream s: brazil nuts l: Ham and cheese rollups, cherry tomatoes d: crockpot beef with veggies (fine beans, mange-tout and a little red onion with a load of butter on 'em.) Maybe a little bit of fage. s: 1oz of cheese.

Okay, I've just been naughty and had some salted peanuts. Damn those things are a weakness. I just wish they'd stop selling them in the little shop at work, that's the only place I ever get them.

I had a question about peanuts...where are the on the ladder, rung 3 with the other nuts? I have had some along with tiny bits of homemade yogurt (I'm in the "yogurt exception" camp lol) and that seemed to jump start my loss again, but I'm curious because I recall NOT seeing peanuts in particular on that rung. The nuts that we have here say they have I believe 7g of carbs but 4.5g of fiber for 50g (2.5 net carbs). I had them one day and the next I moved. Just curious, did I miss the peanut section?

Peanuts are a legume, not a nut, Dove, so you can add them in the legume rung along with beans and lentils.

Dovelette are your packages using UK labels where the fiber has already been subtracted from the total carbs and total carbs are net carbs or do they follow the USA practice of total carbs counts fiber so we can subtract it to get net carbs?
actually it isn't weird at all as they have trace minerals that can help if you were depleted. Also your calcium in your yogurt could be enough to add to your total intake toput you at a level that shut of metabolic reduction hormones needed when we are low in Calcium. |

I know, I"m freakin' thrilled lol. I'm not a HUGE PB junkie like lots of folks are but I appreciate it on an apple or banana. Now hopefully eventually I'll be able to eat those once and a while too...

LOL you might want to read one of the nut butter addicts topics in the main lobby as many of us eat them by ther jar not by the table spoon. I make my own one ounce at a time cause it is a lot of work and a built in control facotor as that lid on the commercially made jars is no deterant at all.

For nuts I can measure out a portion, same for PB. I did that when counting calories, just measured out a TBSP and dunked my apples in it. Yum.
Oh and for your other ?, there is no standard way of how they list things here because everything is imported but from this particular label it looks like they list total carbs and then fiber underneath. |

I had a bad experience with peanut butter. I wanted it sooooo badly, yhad a 2-tbsp serving, and I gained 2 pounds overnight. It did eventually go away again, but I'm trying to stay away from the PB until I see some significant improvements in my waistline. I do so miss it, though. Nuts of all kinds (including peanuts even if they are really legumes) are one thing I would still have portion control issues with. I just love them too much!

I can ignore nuts--I have two open jars of flavored almonds in my cupboard that have been there for at least a month.

Oh man. I love me some OWL. Not only has it changed my idea of a "treat", but it's taught me not to fear food. I wish more people would give it a real try, you know?
This time of year I'm looking forward to CHERRIES. I find them to be self-regulating because they cause gastric distress if I overdo it, since going LC. Same thing with grapes. This WOE never ceases to amaze. I've also had a hankerin' for sweet potatoes, so I'll either have a baked one or some sweet potato fries soon. I know from experience I'll have to plan an entire day's worth of eating around this, but MAN is it worth it. The Great Unknown is my wanting to try a pb&j again. I haven't had one in at least a year, because the LC bread caused incredible cravings almost immediately. I'm going to try it with one of the Ezekiel brands next time, and if it doesn't work I'm probably done trying, at least until Maintenance.

It's nice to hear your enthusiasm for OWL, flourchild!
I like the increased variety of foods a lot. I'm still playing with my CCLL and haven't figured it out yet, but at least I'm willing to keep trying and have faith in the long run. I have absolutely refused to resort to gimmicks or weird fasts or anything like that. If it takes me longer to lose the weight--well, that's life. I think I'm better off for it. |

I think with May coming up I'll have a clean eating challenge. No salted peanuts. No occasional latte. No diet coke. Those are my three non-cheat cheats, but that I know aren't any good. Actually the latte is a cheat I suppose!
![]() Now to make sure that having a May based challenge doesn't mean I go nuts - hah! - for the last two days of April. |

Depends on the latte right? You could make one with cream instead of milk and Davinci syrup or protein powder and then it's pretty darn good for ya! (Unless you don't do protein powder or Davinci's...)

Anyone else interested in starting a May challenge here in the OWL forum? I guess I'd like the support.JFM-- I was a barista for the longest time, and definitely made "lattes" with heavy cream. It actually foams BETTER. Are you counting calories as well--is that the reason you're not switching? Customers who ordered it called it a cafe con leche with foam and no sugar. |

I'm on day 5 of my "5 Day Pouch Test" (sort of a re-set button for WLS patients so we can start to feel more restriction in our stomachs again) so my carbs have been weird the past few days, but I'd be up for an OWL challenge! I know that starting tomorrow I'd like to be reintroducing veggie carbs and making it at least up to 20, and then start getting to 25 again regularly. I don't know if I'll stay at 25 for a whole month though or just for 2 weeks and then up it to 30. But count me in!

We all have different things to work on by the sound of it, so we could have a challenge thread where we declare at the start what our particular challenge is and keep reporting in on progress. Goals are good!

You guys can do a challenge right here if you want to; people can participate or not and it's no big deal--I'd support you even though I wouldn't participate. I'm fine with what I'm currently doing and don't feel the need to tweak it, but if anyone else wants to do a group challenge, go for it!

We actually didn't use skim milk at all unless the customer requested it, so you may have a point, I dunno. But I do know that the heavy cream also held up pretty well. ![]() I posted a May OWL goals thread. Not a challenge, per se, since we may all have different goals, but it's up there. |
