How often do you weigh yourself?

Just out of curiousity? Some people are adamant at only weighing yourself once a week. I do it every day just to keep myself reminded of my progress and goals.

What do you think? Am I just addicted?

Thanks!!

I weigh every morning and am mad when I don't have my scale on vacation! I have threatened to pack it but so far have not done so.

It's not the frequency, it's the effect. Can a person constructively use the information this tool relays? It only becomes a problem when the scale has the power to rule one's life or emotions.

I don't lose in a linear way, I'll go a couple of weeks with nothing and then two or three pounds over a week. So weighing every day for me is kind of pointless. Though I did actually do so for the whole of July, and recorded it, just so I could make a graph and see how meaningless the fluctuations from day to day really were.

Making a chore of it like that sure put me off it quick! I'm back to once a week now, but only "counting" - that is putting it in my spreadsheet - the 1st of the month's figure. It's more about sizes and health for me now anyway. Who cares about the scale number if you look fab?

So I say if you weigh every day always record it, and always remember that the difference between your start data and today is what counts, not between today and yesterday.

Which is exactly why I DON'T weigh in very often. I've learned, over the years, that it is too easy to allow that darn piece of equipment to control my feelings for the entire day, it just isn't worth it.
Besides, I lose so slowly, if I'm lucky, I see a loss of a pound a week, but more often 1/2 pound or so.
I began the first week of OWL last Saturday and I am planning on weighing in and taking all my measurements once a month. From past experience, I'm sure I will see an average loss of 2-3 pounds a month, so why torture myself by getting on the scale too often.

Unfortunately I weigh everyday while dieting.. I should have weighed everyday while I was gaining it! Im going to put it away soon, after I see a bit of progress to know I am going the right direction... and weigh once a week.

If you choose to weigh every day, don't freak if you go up a pound or two or three - it is most likely water weight. In the past that would be my cue to say, "Heck with this, it's not working" and pig out. It's taken me time to get over that! (I guess I'm dense) I weigh several times a week and I take my measurements every 2 weeks.

For years I flat out avoided the scale, and before that, as a teenager with an ED I weighed myself obsessively, like 10+ times daily. and lol, I didn't really think that there was anything problematic about that particular behavior.

I recently got a nice new sleek sexy glass digital scale and the first day or so I was weighing myself all the time just to test it out, but now to keep my sanity intact, I weigh myself just once in the morning just to record it in Fitday, and if I happen to step on at some points in between, I *try* to take it with a grain of salt.

I completely agree with the assertion that one's self-worth does not correspond to some arbitrary number, but it's hard to really live by that sometimes.

I often go the other way. I get scared so I don't go on the scales. Then I leave it too long and when I finally pick up courage I find I've gained (which I probably knew already). I think I need to weigh myself more often just to keep a check on things and to keep me accountable. So I'm going to weigh myself once or twice a week from now on.

Every moring and night. I am obsessive compulsive about my weight. I don't get frustrated with it though. I know it will come down if it's up because I am not cheating so it's just an arbitrary number for me. I go by how loose my clothes are fitting to get an accurate idea of how much weight I have lost.

In the past I have gotten too frustrated with the fluctuations on the scale and allowed them to affect my motivation. This time I am still weighing every morning but trying to just use it as a diagnostic tool.

I think I will just update my weight tracker on Sundays though - I guess this is hijacking this thread but how often do you update your weight tracker (signature)?

Minimum of everyday, sometimes twice a day, morning and evening.
I'm intrigued by the fluctuations I see on a daily basis, and by those I think I should see and do not. I use it as another tool in my fat fight toolbox.

Once a week only. It is bad enough then when you only lose half a pound. I wouldn't like to find that out every day.

Sadly, I am a frequent weigher-inner. Sometimes, its 2-3 times a day!
*blushes with embarassment*
I don't know why...I know that it will not move much over an hour or two.

Me: "Why am I not losing MORE weight?"
My husband: "you ask the scale too often, and it is ignoring you!!! Leave him alone, and he will talk to you in 7 days."

I weigh every day. I have some food intolerances and hormone issues that I am trying to figure out. So I like to see what is happening to my body and see what is working and what's not. I try not to obsess and get disappointed when I gain a pound or so because I know it is just water weight and it won't last.

That is why I weigh every morning, I weigh when I get home from work before I eat dinner and at bedtime. I don't get frustrated because of fluctuations but it helps me know what triggers water weight gain. I would absolutely hate to miss a new low! Like this morning 1/2 pound down from my last low. I don't record 1/2 pounds drops only whole pounds. I will keep weighing after I reach goal so I won't creep up. I could easily gain 5 pounds in a month if I don't keep accountability. I sure never lose 5 pounds a month!

I'm a morning and late afternoon person too. I don't obsess about it, but it's interesting to see how my weight fluctuates up and down. I'm finding right now that I'm not up 2-3 lbs in the afternoon - I think I wasn't drinking enough water before I went back on Induction.

I weigh myself everyday, every morning when I first get out of bed. Sometimes, if its my special woman time, I won't weigh myself because I'm scared of water retention.

I weigh myself every morning so that I can analyze what I did right or wrong the day before. Also, that way it will help you to determine which foods cause you to gain weight and which ones cause you to lose. Of course you may gain due to water weight if you had a lot of sodium the day before.

I weigh in here and there. I might even skip a week because I don't want the weight to be my focus all the time. I am kidding myself if I say I am happy at 187 lbs but I don't want to starve myself or skip meals either because the scale hasn't gone down. If I saw the scale go up, I'd panic and probably wind up doing something drastic like liquid and chicken diet, so for me I wouldn't check daily. lol
