Isn't the point that we're not just "dieting" but are changing the way we eat for our entire lives? Of course if you are eating very "clean" then start pigging out you're going to gain weight back rapidly.

WOE: Seeing a nutritionist who believes in low carb!
Start Date: Off & On (mostly on) since January 2004

There is a thread of truth in that article. I say this as one who has not tracked lean body mass in the past, but I currently am. I can tell you for sure that the key to preservation of LBM on low carb diets is exercise. That's it, pure and simple. I see a nutritionist who measures my LBM every time I see her, and my LBM is not preserved when I don't exercise. Now, if I were doing low fat/high carb, it would probably be worse than it is now, so I will say that I do believe low carbing preserves LBM more than other plans.
Dr. Atkins himself wrote in his 1972 version that for those of us that lose weight on low-carbing, going off of it piles the weight back on surprisingly fast. That's a fact. I'm living proof. Seriously. If I didn't about it, I would have to ![]()
