Anyone have high blood sugar?

I am currently following the LC/Atkins plan for the 3 rd time and trying to talk hubby into it
He has been recently diagnosed with type 2 diabetes for high blood sugar. Just wondering if anyone else doing LC has that problem and what LC has done for the problem?

Thanks

WOE: Seeing a nutritionist who believes in low carb!

I believe if you google it, you will find there have been many studies showing that low carb eating is what diabetics are supposed to be doing. Most diabetics respond very well to it, depending on the level of compliance.

I did. When I was pregnant with first had gestational diabetes, doctor recommended low carb plan. Worked great, kept blood sugar down where it needed to be. Continued to use it for weight loss afterward.

A friend of mine is type 2 and after several months of low carb eating was able to eliminate insulin entirely from his diet.

I am type 2 and I had high blood sugar, and not matter how much I followed their plans (which allowed me something insane like 200 grams of carbs a day) I could NOT get them under control with just diet. So, I was put on a pill. The pill hardly worked. Instead of getting on MORE medicine and following their plan, I decided on my onw to try LCing. Finally I get normal numbers.

One of the main reasons why I started back up was because about 8 weeks ago I had a morning blood sugar of 235. I've never had a morning sugar over 90 something and it scared the living daylights out of me. My grandmother was a type II diabetic. She was diagnosed in her 50's and I'm currently 52. I went to the doctor the next week and she told me I'm what is called pre-diabetic. This is still a reversable condition if I lose weight and follow a LC diet. There's a book called the Diabetes Diet written by Doctor Bernstein. He says that the ONLY diet a diabetic should be on is a LC diet. Your husband might benefit from this book. My best friends husband just lost his second foot to diabetes because he kept cheating on his diet at work. I've been on this WOE for about six weeks now. I've lost 15 pounds and my morning sugar levels have dropped back down under 100. Even my two hour post meal sugars have been around 124 or less, so I'm quite happy with the results I've gotten from eating this way. I hope your husband listens to you. This is a great WOE. My husband loves it because he can still have his STEAK and eat it too...
