Question about TOM

Hi everyone,
I was wondering if EVERYONE retains fluid and gains a couple pounds during TOM OR whether it's only some people -- is there a way to prevent this? I know this is a silly question cause it's just going to go down again (the weight) BUT I feel soo bloated!!!!!

I retain fluid and bloat up at least 1 inch on my waist and hips. Occasionally, my "chest" will bloat and retain water as well (this month).

It all goes away within a day or so of starting my period. Which makes for great celebration when I "start". I know I'm guaranteed at least a couple of inches lost and a couple of pounds, too.

Tomorrow I may hit onderland! It's just the price we pay for the X chromosone. I've tried drinking more water, taking GLA (that made my breasts retain water and swell this month, not reccomended), drinking dandelion root tea, B-complex, nothing works. Except starting my period.

I'm retaining like crazy right now -- 1.5-2 lbs and I want it to stop! I feel so bloated!!! BLAH!

Has anyone tried drinking tonnes of water with lemon to cure this (I read about it on the net) ... does it work?

crazy but true:

3 weeks ago, 2 days into TOM I went from 192 down to 188.5... 2 days later it went back up and hovered around 190.5-192.5 until today. (189.5)

this has never happened before and I cannot explain it but I hope it happens again!

I find that the water retention is lessoned if I drink lots of extra water the few days before tom.
I especially cut out all diet soda and anything with extra sodium from my regimen.
I also try avoid the scale (if I can force myself), at least for a week.

I find that with any diet I temporarily stall when I have my TOTM and can go up a dress size of I don't watch what I'm eating salt/sugar/binge wise.

I found when I was on Cambridge diet that I slowed down even on 417cals a day, and that my ketostix never turned at all.

Definitely go up a few pounds before TOM here...also on ovulation for me! But have gotten used to it. Doesn't freak me out like it used to!

It's just something we can not control... I wish my ut would dry up and fall out already!

Just push the water and wait for TOM to leave... And know that it will be that way every month.

Try and drink more water than usual around TOM, also cut down on anything that can cause water retention.

I wouldnt worry about it, as long as it doesn't stick around it doesn't bother me :P
