So happy that inspiration has returned!

Here's my story (I'll keep it brief )

I am a 29 year old male who lost over 100 lbs on Atkins about three years ago, by doing Induction for a YEAR. I was inspired at that time, and I went from not being able to find clothes that would fit me in most stores, to being able to buy size 36 jeans in whatever store I wanted (even trendy ones!). Size 36, btw, is fine with me. I have a large build, which is cool. I just don't want to be FAT. Anyway, (here comes the part of the story we've all heard before) I slowly fell off of it (read: became too comfortable with my success) and began drinking again (vodka and club soda this time instead of beer, but still), and slowly re-introducing a lot of baaaaad things into my diet. Sweets/desserts are my biggest weakness, as well as fries (like, a whole plate of them with loads of ketchup and salt) and Chinese food is one my ultimate favourites. I've definitely put a bunch of weight back on (don't know how much, I don't have a scale and never did use one - and no, I don't want to ). I have been just barely getting into my size 38 pants now, and wearing the larger shirts I wore about halfway through my previous weight loss. This will not do.

But....

My inspiration is back! I began Induction (using the book) on Monday May 5th, and began walking to and from work (40 mins each way = 400 mins of walking last week, plus 45 mins on the treadmill on my day off). I am drinking only water and black decaf coffee (I always did drink my coffee black, so no problem there, just cutting out the caffeine). Not even Diet Coke. No booze. Doing my best to stay below 20 net carbs per day, using Fitday. Just came back from grocery shopping, and it was not a long enough walk!! LOL I could have walked another hour!

I'm so inspired right now, it's going to be hard to be patient to drop enough to get back into my old clothes (that's my biggest goal). But I am very happy with the feeling this WOE gives me.

In the immortal words of George Costanza, "I'M BACK BABY! I'M BACK!"

Good for you, letting your waistband alert you to a drift toward tubbiness. Good health to you as you climb aboard the LC bandwagon. You'll find lots of alternative recipes if you are inclined to cook up alternatives to some of the worst carby foods: Look at Cleochatra and KevinPA for the most amazing alternatives to committing carby hari-kari by eating all the wrong stuff for a fat-burning metabolism. Have a great LC day today!

Congrats on your newly found resolve Canadaboy29!

I too lost A LOT of weight only to get lazy and gain A LOT back.

I noticed I was getting that "muffin-top" look as my shorts got tighter and I was spilling out the top !

I definitely feel it is easier to stay on this wol when you mood is in agreement (It is hard to do if it feels like a drudgery and you have to force yourself).
Welcome back!

oh and about your shopping walk you could always walk all the asiles of the store before you add any food to your cart and repeat afterwards ( think of it as resistance training too. In my store i can get a mile in that way

congrats on finding the resolve to return and stick to the program, before you regain everything and undo all the hard work you did the first time around. Induction for a year?!! wow, insanity!!! My longest induction was two months (the first time around), and that was too much for me.

keep up the good work!

hehe Yep. A year. It seems far away to me now, I was so "in the zone" back then. But now I am again! My only problem is patience. I'm two weeks in and going strong, I just have to stay focused. Which so far hasn't been a problem.

Yeah, as limiting as it can be, it also allows for some delicious food! I'm a big meat-eater as it is, and I LOVE eggs in any fashion. I also have always been a big water drinker. In a way, I'm lucky in how easy I find this WOE. When properly motivated, those 'other' cravings are all in the past.
