Have you ever switched?

Has anyone ever switched to another weight loss plan and end up coming back to LC?

I ask because I switched to Biggest Loser and have not had near the success that I've seen with LC before.

The LC diet has always been the fastest way for me and a few of my friends as far as dropping weight goes. But my younger brother has had better fat loss exercising every other day and counting calories. Counting calories is just way too hard for me to do. My boss at work has switched from LC to counting calories and then back to LC 2 times in the past month and it seems to be working for him, however he also works out in the morning, every morning and then 3-4 times a week hikes for a combined distance of about 15 miles. So I'm not sure how the diet part has been working out for them due to all the exercising that the both of them are doing.

I have tried just about everything.
For me, low-carb is the only way of losing that I can make a way of eating for the long haul. I was a devoted low-fat and exercise girl and gained about 40 pounds over 5 years...I now know it was too much sugar!!!
You can probably make any "diet" work - but for how long? You have to find a good fit for you and run with it. Good Luck!

I tried the Low GI diet, but it didn't work for me. It left me hungry and it was too easy to persuade myself to eat things I shouldn't, since the rules are just not as strict as Atkins. Also, it doesn't allow many eggs - so that didn't suit me!

And I just didn't lose. That's what it came down to in the end. Of course after a while on that I had talked myself into eating Maltesers and crisps every day. I couldn't do that on Atkins!

I think I need the structure. And the fat!

Isn't it amazing how different our bodies work? I tried counting calories with exercise and never lost. I ate low fat back in the day and gained.

I have a great friend who lost a TON of weight counting calories. He ate whatever he wished so long as he stayed in his calorie range. Oreos, bread, whatever. It was pretty amazing.

The ONLY way that I've been able to lose weight is with LC eating. My body and carbs just don't get along!

I haven't switched to anything since finding low carb. Before discovering it, I tried practically everything, ww, low calories, the zone, cad, jennt craig, susan powter, etc.
I love how stable low carb makes me - no wild swinging up and down of my blood sugars. I feel full , no forcing myself to be hungry, or forcing myself to eat tasteless rice cakes , in order to fool myself into feeling full.

Yes, I sure did.

I discovered LC in the mid 90's and had used it to maintain a decent weight for almost 8 years. Gained 40 pounds after 2nd child...

I tried Jenny Craig a couple years ago. I thought that not having to prepare meals would be a help for me to stay on a plan--it had worked for me once when I was single, in the early 90's.

(Silly me, I forgot that I'm not single any more and have to cook for 4 *other* people now!)

I lasted less than 2 weeks! I thought I was happy with it at first. The food *did* taste really good, fruit and yogurt and bread and pasta, and I did lose 4 pounds the first week, which is comparable to what I lost the first week on Atkins later on that same year.

I started craving meat about Day 8. About day 10, I took a bite of a pan-fried in butter pork chop and that was all-she-wrote!

I was SO darn HUNGRY! I didn't know I was that hungry until I took that bite and then couldn't stop!

Anyway, came back to LC, I made it, and now I'm in maintenance!

You can do it, too!

Yes. My sister was using the typical low-fat, low-calorie plan through Weight Watchers some time ago, and I thought having a 'buddy' would be more beneficial to me than the actual plan, so I switched.

After starving for a couple of weeks and gaining several pounds I gave it up. It was a real struggle to get my cravings under control again, and it took until this week to get back to low carb.

Three days into induction I am feeling better, and my weight has already dropped by 5 pounds.

There just is no other way for me.

My last successful weight loss was over 20 years ago when I was in my late 20s. I did low fat, reduced calories with a ton of exercise and lost about 20 pounds and kept it off.

Hit my 30s and the weight started piling on and dieting just didn't work. I only lost weight if I starved myself and I hated being hungry all the time. I've done WW, eDiets (low fat), and just about every other low fat diet out there and the most I ever lost was 20 pounds but as soon as I went off the diet the weight came back and brought lots of friends.

Throw in a couple of kids, looking at the big five oh and here I am. I actually started Atkins for the first time last October and had managed to drop about 30 pounds before the flu hit and Girl Scout cookies (I'm the cookie mom and when you have 130 cases sitting in your living room....) and I went off plan and stayed off plan until Memorial Day. Only gained back about 15 pounds so at least I'm starting a little lower than last time.

With Atkins, I feel great (once I get through the first week of induction) have zero carb cravings and actually lose weight. This works better than anything else I've tried.

I've tried weight watchers but i didn't do well on it. I found it too liberal and i was always like "well, i can always have one more little piece" which turned into a lot

I like atkins because it is very cut and dry, very easy to understand & follow.

This is it for me.
I cannot eat carbs in moderation.
Every time I add them I binge...and gain.
I have tried Low Fat,
low EVERYTHING (Dr. bernstein...lost but also was starving and sick)
ABS
You on a diet..

I just can't eat in moderation, either low carb or binge there is no in-between for me.
Low carb makes me feel good, and in control. I don't waste time in-between meals obsessing over what I can eat at the next meal.

My biggest faux pas was Jenny Craig in '95... 3 months, $1700 later I lost 17lbs. (yeah I bought the tapes and everything for another $500).

I was so flipping hungry all day I couldn't stand it, and when I moved I couldn't afford it anymore and gained it all back in about 3 weeks. My BFF got really sick on JC after she was on 4 months @1200 cals a day (she was 190lbs) and she passed out from lack of food (and she looked ghastly pale and had heartburn so bad she ended up in the hospital.) The gal who put her on 1200 cals a day said 'oops, me bad, you should have been eating more".

I have done starvation, bulemia (for about a month...) Spa Lady memberships, running, starving and more running, and like that cat, it always came back... only it always brought a few friends too.

I did Fat Flush for 3 months and lost 24lbs but got tired of the lack of taste and too stringent with the flax and cranberry juice.

When I discovered Atkins, I never looked back (well except when I was pregnant and sick for 9 months).. and now am lowcarb for life
