emotional eating (long)

I don't know if any of you are emotional eaters but I am and I am having the hardest week and don't know how to deal with it. I had to give my cat back to his old owners, we had just gotten him a few months ago. A month after we got him his owner got in touch with the shelter and found out he had been adopted and would like him back if he didn't work out. Thursday my husband called the shelter after 2 days of the Obi pottying on the floor, well before the old owner contacted us I realized the door on the litter box was stuck. I decided to keep him but his former owner called and started talking about how much her daughter had been missing him etc...and I felt guilty and let her have him back. Then my dog buddy had to go to the shelter, I spent a month trying to find him a home after he growled at my baby (not entirely sure if he was growling at her or somthing else but husband didn't want to take the chance). It was the hardest thing we have ever had to do, we love that dog so much, I have been crying for 3 days. Now my mom just called the cat my sister and I got together back in '94 has just been put to sleep due to complete kidney failure. I just want to go eat a whole double chocolate cake. The day Buddy left I did go and eat all the left over Xmas candy my in-laws sent (they don't like me).
No one has to respond if they don't want to...I mostly need to get it all out I think.
if you made it this far, thanks for reading.

Mandy

Losing a pet can be very hard... and when we're emotional eaters, Like I am... its even harder when trying to control the need to over eat when stress arrives. You've done well hanging in there.. and for those who go through the same things like you just have, well your a hero in hiding... thanks for hanging in and sharing.. because it helps us all, bet ya didnt know that, huh? Hugs~~~

Hi, Mandy! I am so sorry for your stress, and it is wonderful that you acknowledge that this is a problem area. Sometimes it is very difficult to deal without food during a bad day, but people who've had weight loss surgery have to cope with the same issues, so we know we can do this!

You did the right thing. Get it all out! It's ok to be emotional! When we bottle it up with food is when we harm ourselves the most.

I'm an animal lover too. Hugs and perhaps do something totally selfish for yourself today not involving food that will make you feel worse later.

I am actually crying for you! I have lost one of my three "children" and it wasn't even the oldest one that we keep expecting to lose...it was HELL! So, you have nothing to worry about...I think that a good many of us understand the need to have others to lean on...and that is what we are here for! Lean away girl!

As far as the double chocolate cake...I hear ya! What about the Mock Danish turned into a double chocolate cake? I use Hershey's special dark cocoa powder, vanilla and splenda to turn mine into chocolate yumminess! And of course top it off with a dallop of whip cream! I like to chill mine first...delish! And it really is as good as a chocolate cake.

Will your husband let you adopt another kitten or cat? I know there are lots of amazing animals out there with out homes that would love a loving family to call their own!

Sending giant hugs and kisses your way!!!
