I need help :/

Hey everyone... I used to come to these boards regularly a long time ago and used all the motivation to loose a whole lot of weight... i was drinking a gallon of water a day, taking vitamins, exercizing atleast three days a week. I went from about 240 lbs to 170 lbs, my lowest weight ever. After i hit my goal i started slacking and for the last few years i pretty much do low carb half assed, then i would fall off and eat what ever i want, then go back to half assed low carb, lol. Of course i gained back about 10-20 lbs(i keep bouncing back and fourth). At this point i need some help to be strict again the way i was a few years ago... i cant seem to gather any energy to get off my lazy ass and exercise. Any suggestions would be helpful.

Also... I recently for the first time counted up all the money i spent on fast food for last month and was shocked, and was wondering if someone could help me figure out a way to groceryshop lowcarb and to not break the bank

Thanks for reading... I'll probably read up on as many posts as i can in the next few days and try to figure out everything for myself, i just felt that if i posted this it would subconciously make me get my ass in gear again.

Marbles is right; LC isn't inherently expensive. I bet if you compare fast food purchases vs. LC shopping after a couple of months, you'll see significant savings.

Look for stuff that's usually on the cheap, like ground beef, whole chickens, eggs, heads of lettuce, cheese. Many staples can be on sale; can't remember the last time I paid full price for a steak, but I eat them regularly and buy them for the freezer when they're marked down. Splurge for the things you really like, shop the store's perimeter first, and try to buy veggies in season. Also don't over-shop, which is my problem; just buy what you'll need for a few days so you don't waste money throwing out rotting fruits or veggies. Happy shopping!

Some protein choices are cheaper - tuna, eggs, ground beef.

Also when things are on sale I stock up. This week boneless skinless chicken tenders are on sale for $1.99/lb. Any time tenders or breasts are on sale ($1.99/lb is the cheapest it gets around here) I buy as much as I can fit in my freezer to hold me to the next time it goes on sale.

It all boils down to know your prices for your area. I LOVE ribeyes. Every now and then they go on sale for $5.99/lb. I buy several and freezer. 5.99/lb is a lot cheaper than 9.99 or more /lb.

I usually make my shopping list based on the weekly flyers. I don't make a menu and hten buy what I need to make my menu - I make my menu based on the sales flyer and what I already have on hand.

I like the Ragu, Classico, and Bertolli alfredo and cheese sauces. Instead of paying full price when I want to use a jar, I only buy on sale and always have 3-4 jars on hand. If I time it right and also have a coupon, I can get these for $1 a jar instead of $2.79.

Also prepackaged, conveinence foods costs more. Make things from scratch and it will save you money. Sure prewashed bagged lettuce is conveinent. but here it costs $3.50 for a 10-12 oz bag. I can buy a head of romaine for $1.99 and prep it myself and it yeilds more lettuce than one of those bags.

As far as fresh veggies - those I on' buy what I need for a week. You can't really stock up on produce.

For me ..it has gotten easier because I know each day what I am going to eat..so I can shop ahead , when things are on sale. Except for veggies ect.

as the holiday season gets closer, meats will come down in price...
buy a whole turkey or chicken, bake it and freeze it in meal sized protions, for a quick meal
At christmas time you can find hams & beef roast at low prices, and again, freeze them into meal portions.
Trader Joes has a high quality low fat ground beef, that is a good value, because you don't lose a lot in shrinkage (I add olive oil to prevent sticking)
