Rungs?????
I did the Atkins Nutritional Approach a few years ago with great success. I bought the book and followed it religiously (added 5 carbs a day each week and so on after induction). I have heard people on atkins talk about rungs??? I did not do this even when I low carbed before. I guess my question is what exactly is a "rung" and is it necessary to follow it after induction? TIA

in the last DR ATKINS NEW DIET REVOLUTION book Dr Atkins wrote before he died he decided to take control of how and what we added back and classified foods acording to groups ranked by glycemic index to give us the best possible least craving issues way to see what foods our bodies would tolerate and introduct them in a controlled manner. In chapter 14 he calls it the carbohydrate ladder. since ladders have rungs folk jujts called each level of that ladder a rung.
the order is more of those yummie induction veggies fresh dairy nuts and seeds berries (melons are supposed to be here to) alcohol legumes frutis other them berries and melons starchy veggies grains in the Atkins for life book he even goes further and subdivides those rungs into eat frequently eat in moderation and eat sparingly based on his Atkins Gycemic rankings which deals with the GI and GL measurements for the blood sugar effect.
