What is FAGE yogurt
I hear about this all the time. I found some in the grocery the other day in a cardboard like "can." It had 16 grams of carbs. I didn't see the appeal so I left it where it belonged LOL

I buy the Fage Greek yogurt in individual 7 oz containers with 6 g of carbs. This and the larger ones are in plastic containers-I have never seen what you described. I haven't seen that on their website either. It is Greek yogurt-you can Google Greek yogurt for an in depth explanation or go to their website to see how they make it. It is rich thick and creamy like pudding-I love it with sf syrups & sliced strawberries or blueberries. I sometimes put this in the freezer for awhile for a cold creamy treat.

Fage yogurt is the BOMB. It should only be 6g carb for 1 cup -- make sure you're getting Fage Total (or, if you must, Fage 5% or Fage Zero). Fage 2% has 8g carbs.
They do sell big and small tubs, so maybe you looked at the total number of carbs in the big tub? Also, I just spotted some Fage Tzatziki at a Fox and Obel yesterday, which I'm sure would be delicious but is MUCH higher in carbs. Sure you didn't read this label by mistake? Let me just say, Fage is the most decadent thing I've discovered during my Atkins journey, and that's saying a lot. Eat it plain -- or with a couple of tablespoons of sunflower seeds -- or on chicken -- or with sliced strawberries, as lisabinil suggests. You can't go wrong! It's delicious, REALLY filling, and best of all, it's really good for you. ![]() |

If you are in Florida you can find it in Publix. They carry it here in SC. It comes in a plastic cup--just like yogurt and it is good. I just like yogurt better. I treat it like yogurt and add blueberries, strawberries, splenda and pecan chips. It really is filling. |

Fage yogurt ???
I have never heard of this kind of yogart>> I use to make my own homemade! Can anyone explain to me how it works with the low carb diet? I had read some where a while back that you can have the yogurt, the carbs do not count the same???? Confuses me! |

the founder of the GO diet said they tested yogurt that they had bought and it did not contain the same amount as the carbs on the label. They said this was cause the bacteria eat up the lactose but the test only tested for lactose and in yogurt the bacteria break the lactose down into 2 simple sugars which we humans can easily us. They called their "results" the yogurt exception. Dr Atkins used to have a post about counting all the yogurt carbs on his website but I haven't looked for it since the ANA revamping of his site after 2004. If you do go with yogurt as part of your Atkins you want full fat just like all the other legal dairy stuff. Happy low carbing

I was reading in another thread about Fage last week. I had to drive about 25 miles to get the stuff and it was totally worth it!! I'm going back out there next Tuesday to get some more!! lol
I bought two of the small 7oz tubs. I mixed each bowl with 1 1/2 packets of splenda and 2 generous tablespoons of SF peanut butter and then I seperated all of it 4 servings and ate them as a desert after dinner. YUMMM My sister tried it and she almost fell over. It's really good. I'm getting the bigger tub next time!!

It's been a while since I did the math (some carbs are drained with the whey) but I seem to remember that they are similar. To me it's not worth the effort or the money to buy Fage as yocheese is just as good IMO.

A 7 oz container of Fage is 6 carbs. It's consistency is of a thick creamy pudding. I often add sliced strawberries and put it in the freezer for a cold treat.
