Here I go again! Back on Atkins

Hi everyone,

Back on Atkins after a long detour. I haven't gained or lost weight by being on low calorie since my last venture into Atkins-dom (I just looked at my profile and my numbers are EXACTLY the same!!). But I've been VERY VERY PAINFULLY good since December with absolutely nothing to show for it. So, here I am, this time doing ketosis plus counting calories as well (not doing so screwed me up last time). Just a little more info on myself: I'm getting married in January and I found my perfect dress last night online - - so time to get serious! I have a LOT of experience with Atkins and dieting in general, so I don't need newbie advice. But I'll be here checking out everyone's success stories. Am currently on a break from exercising after being an avid exerciser for many years. I'm 28 years old.

Has anyone else counted calories, religiously, with no success?? Its really so strange. I can't figure it out - I even stayed out of the starvation zone... and low cal has worked beautifully (though very slowly) before, twice. Hopefully the same thing doesn't happen with Atkins!!!!!

Thoughts?

Mollie

go for it

sounds good! but even as I recall losing weight, one of the ingredients that has helped me a lot is doing some sort of easy fun excercise. I am working my way up with walking. I would say that using light dumbells with fast music on a mini-tramp really works well too. But given this is a lifestyle thing, I figure the walking should be more sustainable.

I counted calories and carbs and the combo really worked! I met my goal of minus 60 lbs in 4.5 months and am now in maintenance, Atkins style. (and still losing about 1 lb a week...)

184/184/164

I too am restarting. A couple years ago, maybe three or four, I was on Atkins and got down to about 158. People told me I looked great. My waist size was down to 34 inches from 38 inches (pants size). I didn't drink booze. Then I started to drink booze again. That ruined my diet. I just sort of got depressed and quit! I think abstaining from booze for me helps me a lot.

After giving up, I had to go back into my 36" pants. Then I had to abandon those and go into 38" pants. I am pissed off about that. I saved the skinnier pants though. I am back up to 184. I want to lose twenty pounds and four inches minimum.

I am curious about setting goals. My goal is 164, but when I should attain it, I want to go for 154. I could go for 144 as I am male 5'7" 51 years old, but I think a 154 goal would be enough..... OK OK... the BMI says under 160 is ok, and I won't be underweight until about 127.....

A 33 # range of healthy weight. 127 - 159.....

I walked for 40 minutes this morning with three pound heavyhands swinging teh whole time and got deep purple on my stix.... I like deep purple. I am going for it with your support too!

Hey Paul,

Once you get to your first goal then you will know if you need to lose more.
I reached mine on 5/27, and have continued to lose slowly and am now at 142 and feeling pretty darn good! I might go for 135, but Im not quite sure yet.
Anyway, good luck and let your body tell you!
