AMAZING NEWS!

I've got a new avatar, guys!

I'VE LOST FIFTY POUNDS!
My only wish is that I could do it faster and
that I'd see more results physically.

Question: How is it possibly that I've lost 50 pounds and still fit into the clothes I wore at my heaviest, with the only difference being a little more ease getting into them and them stretching out after wearing them only once? I mean, shouldn't I be hoisting my pants up with suspenders at this point, considering that I'm 75% of the person I used to be as of right now. Did any of you experience a stall in a loss of inches? I feel as thought I've lost pounds with minimal loss of inches- What does that mean?

My dad joked that my pants must have been REALLY tight before.

4.5 pounds until my halfway point, as well!

It all depends..

It seems you are doing alot of exercise. That can add muscle bulk.

The rule of thumb I was given for shorties like us is.
20-30 lbs per size lost above 200 lbs
10-15 lbs per size lost below 200 lbs.

You might want to go and try on new clothes. Old clothes have a comfortable secure feeling and sometimes they are hard to let go.

I will look forward to hearing about a shopping trip to see if your size has really changed.

I started in tight 24's I am now in comfotable 22's. I have only lost over 20lbs.

Well, first of all, I'm sixteen years old.
I started at 225 pounds, in which I was fitting snuggly into Juniors jeans, size 13-15, and now, my size 13 jeans are nice fitting, fresh out of the wash, but will stretch out horrendously, and I'll literally be embarrassed to be seen in public with my enormously baggy clothes, and when that happens- I can tell where I've lost weight. In all honesty, I don't think I'll be able to tell a difference until I'm at my goal weight

Also, if I gained muscle- wouldn't I be gaining pounds because muscle weighs more than fat? I think it's hilarious that all these weird things happen to me.

Is it possible to lose pounds, and not inches, like- ever?

Did you measure yourself when you first started? Did your pants get baggy and embarrassing before you lost 50 pounds? If they didn't I would definitely say that you've lost some inches!! I've only lost 1 size so far after 30 pounds. Those pants that I really shouldn't have worn before because they were so tight around the waist though are now very loose and I can pull them off without undoing them. Other than that, I agree go clothes shopping and see what fits....

Oh yeah, and maybe you're losing your inches in other places than your waist which could be why you don't have to wear suspenders....I know i've lost in my hands, my back, my butt and thighs. I took my measurements after I'd lost about 20 pounds and they haven't changed in my waist or hips since then!

woo hoo on the 50 pounds shed as you have been morphing your body working your Atkins. At 16 you are still growing and developing into your adult body so I hope you have been seeing your doctor to be sure you aren't shortchanging yourself on your nutritional needs.

50 pounds is like 50 butter boxes you have shed inches somewhere and lots of them!
Some folk carry their weight around their waist and other don't. Check your measurements weekly and watch those inches of fat melting off your body.

BTW Muscle doesn't weigh more than fat. muscle is denser then fat so 5 pounds of muscle will be much smaller then 5 pounds of fat but they both weigh 5 pounds. As we shed fat mass we will add some muscle mass doing our mandatory exercise part of our Atkins.

Happy low carbing

Wow! 50 lbs! That's fantastic. My daughter would be so jealous of you! She weighs about 225 now and wears a size 19 pants. I just think everyone's built different. I agree that you should go try some new clothes on to see. Congratulations again!

I always find I have to gain or lose over 20lb to make a noticeable difference and over 30lb to change a size in clothes.

Thanks you guys for all the compliments!
I promised my dad that I wouldn't get new clothes
(because i love clothes!) until I reached my goal weight :P

I can't wait to be thin. I'm just concerned that even at
115 pounds, I'll still be thick! Not like muscular, just like, wide and bony.
I don't know, I have a small frame, but apparently, my body is really weird. Haha

Instead of going out and spending a fortune on new clothes mid diet, why don't you go to Goodwill or another thrift shop and buy a pair of used jeans? You should be able to get a decent pair for $5 or less. Then you will look slimmer and feel better about what you have lost.

Fifty pounds is GREAT! Congrats.

I have to lose a lot of weight before I fit into a smaller size. When I lost 55 pounds years ago on a low fat diet (from 210-155) I went from a tight 16 to a loose 14, but the 12s never did fit right.

I've lost 17.5 pounds since the end of January, and no one has noticed, which is o.k. I'm doing this for me.

The reason for me is that I put on weight everywhere on my body. When it comes off, it comes off all over, but takes a long while to move down a size. I think I will have to lose 40 pounds before I go down a size. We all have different shapes and put on/take off weight differently.

Hey seb! That makes a lot of sense, I have a feeling that the same thing is happening with me, unfortunately! Especially with the width of my hips! Anyways, I definitely think that could be a good reason for my lack of size-dropping.

I'm still pretty stumped though.
I'm just like "Where are all the pounds coming from?!" It's pretty strange :P

How are you doing?

You're well ahead of me because despite the weight loss I'm a bit soft. I can't do a lot of exercise at the moment. You're going to look great at goal and because you've done it the right way you'll be firm and toned. Good for you

I really hope that I'll be firm and toned, I'm relatively young- I'm sixteen
&I'll be seventeen in four days!

Even if you're soft right now, do whatever exercise you can- even if it's just simple dancing, sit ups, whatever you can do! what kind of injury do you have currently?

First of all CONGRATS!

Ive lost 41 lbs and can still wear a few of my old clothes but they are really big on me. I was in a 16 at the beginning, and am now in size 12 pants
and medium tops at 169. (Im 5 ft 7) Its amazing to me that I can still wear a few things, but I think that I did reach a point at about 30 lbs down where
I had to get rid of alot of things. I gave away some, sold some on ebay and bought alot of new things (chicos) on ebay too since I know the sizing and what I can wear. I have 19 more lbs to lose, and I think that even some of my current clothes might be big, so Im not buying anything else! There are places like target where I got workout clothes about 25 lbs down knowing that by now they would be too big (which they almost are). Sweaters can be worn loosely or not too. Also I realized that I really was wearing my clothes too tight! Now its much better.

And everyone who hasnt received compliments yet- you will!!!

Bella

Hey Bella! Thanks for the fill-in! That's so great that you've lost so much weight since the middle of January!

Yeah, I've received many compliments, but it's just like, if I can't see the results in the loose-ness of my clothing, I'm not going to be able to feel like I've lost the wait. I've lost 55 pounds, and I still wear a lot of my "fat" clothes. There are somethings that I refuse to wear because they stretch out around me and I have to hoist my pants up every three and a half seconds, but I'm only half-way to my goal, which is probably why I haven't experienced exceptional changes.

I was basically a juniors size 13/15 tightly, and now fit into an 13 with ease. So, that alone, is relatively discouraging, but I wish that my body would catch up with all of the pounds lost. and I definitely wish I had taken pictures at the beginning because I really do regret that now because I have nothing to compare to. Anyways, keep up your excellent weight loss! You're 68% of the way there!!!!

You're doing so well!

Maybe you were wearing 13/15 but really were snug in them and "should" have been wearing a larger size? Now you're heading towards 11s! See what I mean? And why not go to Target and get a pair of pants that fit? You will feel better!

Thanks for the congrats back
