I'm back...again...
Okay. Here I am again. I did Atkins about 3 years ago and lost 40 pounds. I have since gained it all back and then some, and have tried so many diets since. None of them last very long. I have to come back to the one that worked.
Now, everyone says you do Atkins, and you gain the weight back. And I say yes, I lost 40 pounds and you know what? It took me 4 months to lose it and 2 years to gain it back. You do the math. At least i had two good years and I would be glad to have another 2 (but am shooting for much longer). I haven't weighed myself yet. I gave away my scale a few years back, and don't have one available for me. I will weigh myself tomorrow for a starting weight, even though I am on day 5. I plan on doing an Atkins with slow transition into South Beach. I like the idea of South Beach for the long run, but Atkins for the main pus into weight loss. We will see how that goes. Anyone else out there restarting again with more weight to lose that the first time? |

South Beach and Atkins maintenance are virtually identical. As are most diets in their final phase.

And by the way, I went from 400 to 350 my first time on Atkins. I stopped 2 years ago, I started back up early July, I was 420. I'm 375 now.

Yep, I'm re-starting again. The amazing thing is, the weight loss is great, but I just FEEL so much better when I'm low carbing. I don't know why I fall back into old habits!
Good luck! I'm on day two, and haven't weighed in, yet. |

back again
yes, I lost 40 lbs two years ago and and gained that back plus another 10. I thought I could 'allow' myself a few indulgences during Thanksgiving and Christmas...and now here I am again. It's taken me two years to get the right mindset again. This time WILL be different. My mind is ready. I can FEEL it.
We can DO this!!!!!!! |

I'm still here. Over 13 lbs gone (my weigh-in in my profile was done a week after I started, so I'm sure it was more than that).
This time I find it a lot easier, and had forgotten what it felt like to "forget" to eat meals. Not on purpose, just forget. This is so great. Not losing as fast as I did the first time, but I'll take it. Last edited by PaganCub : 09-19-2005 at 09:23 AM. |

I got reminded this weekend how yucky it feels to eat sugary carbs! I was doing really well until my hubby's birthday. We went camping and indulged a bit too much. I am right back on Induction this morning. It sure didn't take much to convince me that cheating is NOT worth it!

Back again, too.
Hello, all. I am back to Atkins after a long hiatus and several failed attempts to restart. Have about 170 or so to loose. I would appreciate any/all tips and motivational support.
Thanks!, Indy 370/370/200 |

back again
Indy - same here. "I'll start Monday"...then the next, next, next. My heart/mind wasn't ready until now. I have a whole new outlook! Sounds like you are ready, too. Take it one day at a time. BE PREPARED...PLAN AHEAD. That's a real key so you aren't caught without proper food.

Hey Indy! Very good...getting thru the first day is a step. Keep up the good work!! Those first few days are the hardest...I thought I was gonna cave a few times but I'm so totally committed this time, I didn't. Since I reinducted Sept 1, I've been on it for several weeks and my appetite is no where near where it was. It feels SO good to be in control. I also started going to Curves and am pleasantly surprised how much I like it.
How are you doing today? |
