Hi...I'm getting discouraged...HELP!

I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I've done this before and lost about 25 lb and kept it off for about three years. Then for a bunch of different reasons, I was forced to go off it and that was really hard for me because I had such success. Well anyway, I gained 6 lbs and I really want them off so I'm back to Atkins! The problem is, I I've been on the induction since last Sun (6 days) and I've only lost like 1.5 lbs. I am in ketosis, my mouth feels yucky and tastes yucky and I'm turning the ketosix light-med purple. I can't figure out why I'm not losing better.

I eat enough, not too much. Here is a sample.

1 c coffee w/ 2 splenda and 2 tsp whipping cream
3 eggs made in the microwave w/ marg (didn't have butter)

salami
colby jack cheese
1/3 atkins choc. peanut butter bar

steak, chicken or salmon bbq
1-2 cup brocolli
possibly 1/2-1 cup salad greens with a little ranch dressing

1/3 atkins choc peanut butter bar or maybe an atkins ice cream bar
or some choc mousse( 1-3 tbl ) made with whipping cream and sugar free instant choc pudding

and about 32-48 oz water...

Am I messing up somewhere really bad? Help me please. I need you guys!

Thanks and blessings!

Well first off if you are doing induction you want to stay away from the Atkins Bars and Ice Cream and well as the sugar free pudding. Those are NOT ok for induction. That stuff should be use in OWL and Maintance only. Re-read DANOR and stick to induction by the book.

I would get rid of the lc products like the bars, ice cream and pudding first. Also, how much cheese and salami? Those things have a lot of sodium which will make you retain water and cheese is pretty calorie dense.

Dear Randi and Denise,
Thank you for your help. It's funny because I think I really knew those things but I needed someone to tell me. The problem is that I do crave sweets so much! What can I eat that might satisfy?
I'm sure some of it is emotional... it's summer and everyone else is going out for ice cream, eating fruit... and I want to be included too! I sound like such a baby, but it's really how I feel so I felt I needed to be honest. One last thing is that no one around me thinks I should even be dieting. They (my husband, kids, friends, etc.) think that I'm silly to "diet" and that at my age I should just relax and enjoy my life and be free to eat whatever I want. That's hard...

Some things about me...I'm 43, I am 5'8 and currently weigh 150. When I was 30 yrs I weighed a 130 after being on Jenny Craig. That is a hard weight for me to maintain. I wear a size 12, and can't really remember ever wering anything much smaller than an 8 and that was during a period of my life when things were really messed up! ....That is a enough about me...Thanks for anymore insight you might have. BTW, I did lose a pound this morning!
Blessings,
Anni

Splenda and cheese both make me stall.
I also do not drink much water, and that always made me lose slowly or stall.

Okay, if you say it will get easier, I trust it will get easier, but what can I eat that's sweet? And why is my weight loss soooo...slow??? Yikes! I'm tired of not seeing bigger losses! I've been on induction a week and I've only lost 2.5 lbs!

I have a major sweet tooth also. But, I have found this time around that by not eating any LC products, not using any artificial sweetener has made me not crave them at all. And for me, that is a shock! It's tough getting thru the first few days while your cravings go away - but if you stick to it they will go away.

Good luck!

I have been on Induction for 4 weeks. I'm a slow looser, so I will remain on < then 20 carbs per day.

What I wanted to share with you is that if you don't cheat your cravings will disappear and you will be in full control.

One of my tricks for desert at night is

Beat egg yolk with1 packet of splenda (I know raw egg, but I have been doing this for years and never had a problem), but make sure you smell the yolk and if it smell funny don't use it.

I dropped 4 lbs this week and this was my best week ever. In February I was using some low carbs products that did not help me. I cut them all out and eat clean.

Example

eggs for breakfast

Tuna salad for lunch

Meat(fish, chicken, pork or beef) and a small salad for dinner

snacks- Eggs, Cheese, sausage stick(watch carbs); I use 1 carb for serving and only have one serving

Good luck!

anni, it got easier for me after the 5 days i would say..i still have something sweet everyday..an ounce or 2 of cream cheese, splenda, a little bit of heavy cream and cocoa pwder...and whip..thats my only treat for the day, and if u get more cravings i read somewhere to eat protein and that will help curb the craving.. did u read the atkins book? i think if u follow it strict..u will see results..

You are not doing induction correctly, and that is why you aren't losing. Have you read the book? If not, go out and get it! Make sure you get the DANDR, and not "Atkins essentials"
IT looks to me that your carbs are not coming from the right places. Your 20 grams of carbs need to come mostly from veggies, and yours are coming from frankenfoods. Stay away from the Atkins bars and junk like that, eat pure foods, and you might want to cut back on the cream and Splenda. Also, salami can be loaded with sugar and salt, causing you to retain water.
You definately need more carbs from more veggies! Good luck!
