Whats your favorite thing about Atkins?

...............Other than the weight loss.

For me its the lack of hunger and cravings. I feel like I control the food rather than it controling me.

I can eat great food, I never have to be hungry and I can be thin at the same time! I guess that's three things, but they all go together.

I like that it is so simple.....

It is black or white for me... either I can eat it, or I cannot. No measuring, no weighing, just yes or no.

My favorite thing about Atkins is that I can honestly say I've never done it or even read the book.

Well, you asked...

My LC plan of choice was Protein Power. Being able to eat until you're full--not having to go hungry has to be tops on the list for me. There are many other things but without that one, it would not have worked so well for me.

It is just so easy. No matter where I go, there is food I can eat and know that I will still lose weight. Unlike most other diets, if I am hungry - I eat!!!!

I'm only 5' tall and on Atkins I can eat more like a "normal" person and don't have to starve myself in order to keep my weight under control. Add that to the fact that I feel good makes this woe a winner for me!!

I just do general low carb but the best thing is that I don't fall asleep every time I sit down anymore. I used to fall asleep any time DH drove - even on a 5 minute ride to the grocery store. He is amazed that I stay awake now. The food is much more satisfying and I am not hungry all the time.

I've been LCing for 18 months now. I've lost 35 lbs, have been maintaining and am working on the last 10. Like Catrin said, it's either I can have it...or I can't. It becomes second nature. I don't count anything anymore, I eat when I'm hungry, I eat healthy fats (olive oil, coconut oil and butter) and mostly lean protein with my meals which fills me up and keeps me from snacking or being tempted by all the carb laden foods at work. Here's a biggie- I like the taste of my food, I feel satisfied, which is huge for me, because if it doesn't taste good, I'll find something that does! I avoid trans fats as much as possible and only occasionally have very fatty meats, like wings or bacon. Usually it's chicken breasts, eggs, salmon, or steak and lots of lc veggies. I never ate so many veggies before! I know that I've stated more than one thing, but all these things together make Atkins a plan that I can do long term.

Butter! Hot wings! Those little flat philly cheese steak strips of beef that taste sooooooo good with a piece of swiss rolled up in it! I love that I can still eat out - I did WW previously and lost 60 lbs - but I gained it all back when I started trying to go out to eat again :-(
It is definitely not as hard to stay focused on Atkins - the only problem is that if I eat ANY Atkins candy or ice cream, I get major craving for the next 2-3 days & really stall out - I'll have to wait until I lose quite a bit more before re-introducing those!!

Aside from the time during induction which is pretty limited...THE VARIETY. If the goal of the diet is to reach maintenance then what more could you really want from a diet? Nothing is resistricted completely. You will eat a more balanced diet than any other diet out there and there will be portion control....Isnt that what everyone whines about when complaining about ATKINS "Its all about portion control"
