a Splendad question

what i havent understood yet is how to measure splenda products when we are only suppose to have 3 packets a day. i dont know how to measure how much splenda is in a product. so i have just limited my splenda products to 3 a day at the most. why are we not suppose to have more than 3 packets of splenda a day? what does it do? just wondering

im guessing your on induction so i'd stay away from splenda till your 2 weeks is up then after that just use it in moderation, just be careful some people on the forum have said it stalls them

I'm not sure where you got the 3 packs a day--I use more--but I'm also re-inducting on the '72 version. Splenda doesn't seem to stall me--but if I use too much--or in the morning, I do get cravings from it. So now, on induction I am limited its use--about 4 per day and I try to use it with fat or protein--like in my coffee with cream or with my protein meal.

Splenda measures like sugar if you buy it for cooking. Splenda can cause stalls but so can products made with Splenda. Best bet is to avoid all products and limit your Splenda for now. You can always experiment later!

Splenda is made from Sugar... they use SUGAR to bulk it.

I don't know about anyone else but it sugar substitutes including Splenda cause small hunger pangs for me. This last time around I a lightbulb went off and I decided to eliminate all sugar-free items and sugar substitutes which meant no Crystal Lite or caffeine free diet cokes. Just water. I was amazed at how I was able to eliminate my cravings and stay on Induction with ease. For me it made a HUGE difference!
Now I have the largest, meanest, sweettooth but if you can manage two weeks without any sugar substitute you might help tame your monster too!
I hope it helps...?

Splenda is bulked with maltodextrin, a type of starch that comes from corn. Anyway, a diabetic lady on this forum, I think it was, said she tested and found that Splenda does not affect her blood sugar/insulin but that coffee with caffeine and coke with caffeine did.

I have to tell you diet coke causes major cravings for me; Splenda less so and if it's in my decaf tea, I don't notice any cravings. I can have pop with just Sucralose (Splenda) in it and I'm okay too.

splenda more clearly

I guess i wasnt really clear on what i meant by measuring the splenda products. I am past the induction phase of atkins also. I am in my 7th week. I just read in one of the atkins books not to consume over 3 packets of splenda per day. I didnt know why. and also i didnt know how to count the splenda that is in premade low carb foods. For example: if i had one cup of coffee with 1 splenda packet. after lunch time had an "atkins snack" which has splenda in it and so on. how could i stick to the 3 packets a day rule in the atkins book without knowing how much to count in the premade splenda atkins products.

maybe that example helped me explain it a little better. I do understand that splenda measures like sugar. I just didnt under stand how to count it in premade products. ( 1 packet= 1 bar etc.)

but most of all i didnt understand why the atkins book said to consume no more than 3 packets a day. maybe it was referring to the induction phase i dont know.

I think you are right; the 3 packets of Splenda are for the induction phase.

I would not know how to count it in premade products in terms of packets either. Total carbs for the day count in OWL.
