I'm really not educated enough about it to have an intelligent response, but I can see doing for a few days at a time.... Long term? I'm not sure. Maybe I just know I couldn't do it long term...?

I tried it for one day and it made a difference but I also took vitamins. I personally prefer Induction with some options but to get through the cravings one day really helped. I think Induction is more comfortable for me and I feel it's healthy as long as I take fiber and vitamins...but then again, I'm NOT part of the 50lb or the 100lb club yet. I wonder if any of them tried it???

i think some folks find that it's a "jumpstart"...something different than regular induction to make sure they are keeping their carbs low in order to break a stall or get re-motivated to LC after maintaining or maybe being off plan on a vacation or something like that.

Personally I don't see much difference between doing meat and egg for a few days or eating mostly protein and fat with 2 green salads per day.

I think in general..for 3 days..you can get away with just about anything. However, if your not learning a lifetime woe..and useing it to rebound from cheats..your not changing your lifestyle..and that is essential to hit goal and stay there

The book states that an "over-weight" person DOES NOT need any carbs but Eggs do have carbs .06 per egg so you still not truly 0 carbs.

Not my opinion- straight from his 1992 book.

I did it for 14 days, loved it but you do get to a point where you start to miss salad, cheese etc..

Also there was a gentleman who couldn't go up in carbs, who basically had to eat the least amount of carbs to lose. I remember that in the book

Yes , I remember that- and Dr.Atkins also said that was a rare case so I'm thinking DR.A was implying that the 0 carb deal isn't just for anybody or everybody.

I wouldn't do it just to do it, only if I was needing to break a stall.

I'm sick of eggs too, I started eating steak for breakfast. Stays with me til lunch. Have you tried deviled eggs? Those are a good grab-n-go breakfast.

Hi everyone!! In my My New Diet REV> book Dr. A. talks about the Kimmers diet briefly. He says that if a person is stalling or not losing as fast they can do this diet for a week. I swear he didn't call it meat and eggs though.???? He talked about eating 5 small meals, (more like snacks) very high in fat, with very low carbs?? I really need to find my book. I have a few LC books. I hope I'm not confusing them?? I know I lose soo fast if I do really low low carb. MY sister always told me I needed to eat more carbs, but I swear I could eat develed eggs and steak everyday!!! I can go a whole day and not be hungry untill 3 or 4pm. I take my vitamins and eat when I'm hungry! I have to make myself eat. I quess somedays I do meat and eggs too. I couldn't do it for 14 days!!! I love my salad too much. I hope I continue to lose like I am now.

I remember Dr Atkins calling it a "fat fast" with very specific foods allowed-- and only for the extremely weight-loss-resistant.

Today is day 37 of meat and egg for me. I feel great and am having no ill effects. I am planning to stay on a little while longer then will switch to the 1972 Atkins induction. My main goal was to jump start my losses since things were going really slowly. So far I am down 21 pounds in the 36 days. I drink a ton of water and I take suppliments. I am also tracking everything in fitday and keep my calories around 1300/daily.

It definitely isn't for everyone, but I do best on strict menus so it works for me. I also exercise for at least 1 hour everyday.

Hope this helps.

Hi all,

Lynnp - wow - 37 days? I agree with Resolved. I'm not sure I could do it. I've been tempted to try it, though, because I hear it jump starts the loss and really takes off the pounds quickly. I'm thinking I might try it for 5 days or so, and see what comes of it.

I'll keep you posted.

Thanks resolved and singer. I exercise each day and am busy enough that I don't feel it takes too much will anymore. I am training to climb Japan's Mt. Fuji in August and don't feel weak at all with all the stairs I am climbing. I'll keep you posted once I switch back to regular LC in July. I'll be taking a 1.5 week trip and won't be super strict, but will be getting right back to M/E when I return.

LYNN!!!! When are you planning to climb Mt. Fugi?? I am so proud and envious of you. You are really amazing! You're a testiment that you can eat low carb especially Induction AND exercise rigorously.
I had some problems with high intensity cardio 5 days a week while on Induction. Over time I had more energy and it wasn't a problem but I wasnt losing either! I later learned that I was gaining muscle and my trainer scolded me and advised I increase my carb count so my body wouln't eat it's own muscle!?! I said if I'm building muscle and burning fat why would my body eat muslce vs fat? I was so discouraged. But I'm back! And again, you are a testiment to what a healthy body can handle. I'm inspired. Thank you and I can't wait to see the pics when you attempt to climb Mt. Fuji...you'll have to post them!

Thanks resolved...I have a medical background and as long as you are eating enough protein and calories to meet your bodies needs, it won't break down muscle to get the amino acids because you are eating them! I am doing Mt. Fuji at the beginning of August and I am training regularly now. Today I took a 140 minute walk and included 1655 stairs along the way. I walk up and down every staircase I find along the walk to train for the uphill and stair type portions of the hike. I had plenty of energy and didn't feel weak at all even being only on meat and eggs.

Hang in there. You can do it!
