technical questions - would love advice...
Hi all,
My husband is doing Atkins to the letter. He's read the book, is about to read it again, is taking the Atkins vitamins, is measuring his vegetables, and is watching everything he eats for hidden sugar etc. He hasn't lost any weight yet and is getting frustrated.
A little background: For the last 3.5 months, he was on doctor's orders to do low-fat, low cholesterol, low-carb (basically lots of good veggies, egg beaters, brown rice etc) and he lost ~40 pounds.
Ok - back to the last week plus...
The book says you can eat up to 20 carbs per day. But salad greens have barely any (~2 per 2 cup serving), and his additional 1 cup of veggies has varied, but not more than up to 4 or 5 carbs for that cup. He measures the salad dressing he uses (2 carbs). He eats a small amount of cheese - no more than 2 oz. per day, and lots of eggs, tuna, salmon, and steak or chicken. He's been drinking tons of water and has been in moderate ketosis (based on the little pee sticks).
Should he be trying to keep the carbs as low as possible? He's probabably around 10-11 right now. Is it possible he's not getting enough carbs? Can he eat more salad? He'd love to, but the book says no more than 2 cups, if he wants other veggies during the day.
Any advice would be very, very appreciated. I totally want to support him in this. Thank you, in advance.
Andrea
