I see this more and more every week....

THIS IS NOT A DIET! Once you realize this is a WAY OF LIFE, a new way of eating you can start down the rode to sucess.

Start with 2 weeks clean induction, no Frankenfoods.... CLEAN this will help break cravings, withdraw from carbs.

Watch your Asparetin consumption, watch the cheese intake, Drink plenty of water and EXERCISE!!! Even if it is a walk around the block- something- get up and get moving! Turn up the radio in the house and dance like mad.

Watch Portion sizes- Eat off of smaller plates, take a bite set your fork down and drink some water, then repeat. Eat slower- it takes the brain 20 minutes to realize it is satisfied. Place the handle of the fork IN the food that is left on the plate and immediatly get up!!! Drink water after a meal, and make sure you are taking vitamins!!

I read so much about people jumping into FASTS....
You do not need a FAST- You need Induction!!!! Get that mind set going, once you are there then do induction by the BOOK, do not start with Egg and Meat fasts, or Fat fasts, or whatever. Too many people start this way because they are in a rush to lose weight and never learn proper eating habits. Fat fasts and egg and meat (low low carb) are for those who are resistant.
Please ATKINS does work!!!!! Give it a real chance. These days I see too many people who start for the first week, lose 2-5lbs and figure they can lose more so they do a fast. WHY? What are you learning?
I see people who only eat meats and eggs (extreme low carb) who have tried adding in Veggies and fruits and gained 2-4lbs immediatly and decided that didn't work and they go back to Extreme low carb again. Then some do this extreme low carb and get bored and end up in Binges....
PLEASE!!!! Do not do this!!!! Can you honestly eat like that forever??? You may say yes now, but just wait....

Read DANDR- study it.... and live it!!!!

Well said!

Yes this is a way of eating. (Technically that's what a diet is---it doesn't mean losing weight.....it means 'food or drink regularly provided or consumed'. I've never posted my stats because I really didn't lose that much weight. I went from 138 to 125 pounds. I'm 5'7 1/2" tall, so I didn't need to lose any weight. But I do eat the Atkins way and like my DH says, "I don't care if I lose anymore weight, I'm just happy that my intestinal problems have gone away."

Thanks for posting this.. I really needed...

For the last two days I have been considering doing the meat and egg fast....

I am seeing people losing quickly on it.. and I said hey why not.

But reading this makes me ask myself... WHY? Why do you want to do that?

I am 2lbs from losing a total of 30lbs in a little over two months..

What more could I ask for? Every other day when I weigh myself usually almost a lb if not a whole lb is gone..

What is it that expect my body to do.. drop a lb daily until I get to a healthy weight.. that's not healthy... that's going to help put my skin back in place... that's not going to give me enough time to mentally cope with the physical changes in my life.. It's also going to give me the false sense.. that once I reach goal.. If I slip... I can do it all again. I do't want to yo-yo.

I don't want to go on a fast too loose 10lbs.. and gain 3 or so back after the fast is over... For what... I would rather loose those 10lbs.. and be done with it for good... not see it snap back because I added a cucumber back into plan.

I hope not to step on anyone's toes but I am starting to see all the fasting that's not related to extreme resistance or long stalls as another form of destructive eating.

Low carbing to me is eating to live... losing weight is only a wonderful side effect.

Yes, fasting would probably get me to goal faster.. but it would be setting me up to depend on a quick fix.

Yes, it is a way of life, and there is no end to it, even after reachng goal - it's a great, healthy way of eating. Having said that, I did the meat/egg fast last week for 3 days to break a month long stall (having been doing Atkns for 9 months now) - and it worked. Back to OWL now. I considered the m/e fast to be simply a short term stall breaker, and could never maintain that as a permanent way of eating.

OWL doesn't feel like 'dieting' to me - it's simply the way I eat - good, unprocessed (preferably organic) ingredients made into delicious meals. I don't even feel the need to make a cauliflower taste like a potato! I don't miss high carb foods at all - there are so many other good things to enjoy, who needs 'em?
