I need help from the experts please~~~~~
Hello friends,
I've been following the atkins woe to a "T." I've been frying fish and using pork rinds for breading, I've been eating salads meat, and cooked veggies. I've had nooo sweets, no sugar, and have been using Divinci's to flavor my decaf tea. I've been drinking water too. Well...I noticed today that there hasn't been ANY change on the scale and no change as far as my clothing is concerned. I couldn't figure out why. I happened to check my bag of Mikesell's Pork Rinds, and found that sugar was the second or third ingredient. But the bag says 0 carbs per serving. Then I checked the jar of chicken bullion that I'd been using to boil my veggies. It has sugar AND corn syrup as an ingredient. ((SIGH)) I can't win for losing. ANd I want soooo bad to lose weight. I'm ashamed to say that I went to the health food store shortly after reading those labels, and purchased some cookies, some bean soup, and a muffin. I'll start all over with my next meal I suppose. I'm just so frustrated. Was I correct in deciding to start over???? That sugar in those two items was my "kiss of death" huh??Thank you kindly to anyone who responds, Compassion |

Hi..
This is my opinion...some folks can't take lots of fat..others can..If you have a slower metabolism, I would cut out the fatty things for a while and see how you do.. Try eating clean for 2 weeks..which is broiled/sauteed meats, veggies with som butter...salads with vinegar and oil dressings..(or ranch..) and see where that takes you..Eat a nice variety of proteins..eggs...poultry, fish..without the pork rinds.. and another thing is to watch the portion control....Many of us have learned the hard way..keep your meats to 3-4 ounces per meal..and you should be fine.. Keep us posted.. Compassion...many of us have learned the hard way.. |

I have found that sometime there is no rhyme or reason to when a loss shows up. I can only speak from my own experience that as long as I stay the course, eventually, I will lose. I only lost three lbs from Jan 1 - Mar 24 and I have lost 5 lbs in the last week. Funny thing is I am eating more than I have in months. I also have been exercizing...I always gain a little when I increase my exercize significantly and then the wl starts again.
Good luck to you...my main suggestion is to stick with one prgram for at least a month. You might also post some menus so that you can get some feedback.

Thanks Fab40 for your suggestions.
Well...tomorrow I'm starting induction again. And I am going to read ALL the labels of everything I cook with! So in the morning I'll probably have eggs and sausage with a little cheese and onions mixed in the omelet. For lunch, my mother is making a beef stew with califlower, broccoli and other legal veggies. For dinner I'll probably have some baked chicken (using Emeril's Chicken Seasoning...no sugar), and a salad and maybe some green beans. That seems like a lot of food though. Oh, and I'll have water and decaf chai. That should be ok...I think.Blessings, Compassion |

Sounds like a good plan to me. Careful on the green beans if you are still on induction as they tend to be a little higher in carbs. As far as the qty, I believe the Atkins books says to eat until you are satiated, but that doesn't mean you should stuff yourself. I am sure you will figure it out. Please don't go away, though. This is a great forum here and there are lots of members willing to jump in with advice!
Take care, Meg |

I won't go away Fab40.
Actually, I've been reading posts here for a few years. I took a hiatus so to speak, when I felt like trying to do things the my own (wrong) way. But I'm back to stay I believe...my health needs it. You know what's so frustrating?? I have some green beans cooking on the stove now. I seasoned them with garlic, pepper and Lowery's Seasoning Salt. Don't you know the second (or maybe it was 3rd) ingredient for the seasoning salt is sugar??? ((SIGH!)) I happened to read the label AFTER I began cooking with it. Oh well, that's going in the trash today too. For the most part, I use just garlic, salt, and pepper, or Emeril's Essence. I checked the Essence labels, and they look ok so far. Blessings, Compassion |

Also, I forgot to mention that I think salad greens are critical...I seem to do better when they are part of my daily routine. It took me a while to figure it out and I know you will soon.

Thanks again. Compassion |
