new to atkins, looking for help with menus
Hello all!
Everyone here has been so inspiring to me, and I am really excited to be attempting this WOL! I was wondering if anyone could give me some input on my induction menu for the last couple days, thanks in advance!! breakfast: 2 hardboiled eggs lunch: tuna (1 can) with mayo dinner: chicken breast fried in butter 1 c. spinach fried in butter snacks: 1 LC cookie - 20 g protein, 2 net carbs 1 LC chocolate peanut butter bar - 3 net carbs decaf tea with splenda and cream i have a feeling you all are going to say stay away from the "low carb" marked foods during induction... right? any suggestions would be really really appreciated!! <3 Kate |

First of all
You were right! The cookie and chocolate peanut butter bar are not for induction. You will get the BEST results from eating meats, legal veggies, cheese and eggs! Skip the others for the first 14 days. If you need a sweet treat you can have sf jello! ![]() |

The Atkins book says you can have their shakes and meal bars during Induction, but I think it's best to work the two weeks without them. I think it helped me get into a routine of cooking and preparing foods in advance. It also forced me to look for recipes and foods I might not have tried otherwise. There are so many delicious snacks and foods to be had on this WOE. I'm new to this as well, but these boards have really helped. I really recommend returning here frequently. I haven't been brave enough to post a thread, but I have learned so much just by lurking! ![]()

When I wanted something sweet on induction, I'd whip 1/4 cup of whipping cream with a little splenda and vanilla and eat it out of the container. It hit the spot.
hey...where are your veggies? salad or green veggies with at least lunch and dinner...induction is 20 carbs for a reason...your need the fiber, vitamins and variety. |

I would definitely get rid of the cookies and bars, and eat a lot more veggies than you are. The book says 3 cups, but you can eat more than that and stay under 20 carbs. The vegetables will fill you up and help keep your calories down. JMO

Earlier this week I bought fresh cabbage, zuchini, a red pepper, onion, and garlic from a farmers market. Here's my receipe:
-dice less a quarter of onion and garlic (to taste) and sautee in a pan -once lightly toasted add cut zuchini, red peper, mushrooms, and slice or shredd 2 cups of cabbage and add to pan. -add once can of chicken or beef stock (make sure 0 carbs). -5 shots of hot sauce (its not hot just gives it a little kick) -any spices you choose I like an all herb mix -Let is cook on a medium heat until stock has cooked off. -Then add cooked ground beef or turkey or sausage . Sometimes I warm this up with a little shredded cheese melted on top and sour cream to top it off. Other times I eat it as is. Makes 4 healthy portions. |

Also, the Hamilton grill is my bestfriend. Try these:
-butter down grill add salmon or flounder spray olive oil on fish add seasoning (herb or cajon or crejole) and fresh dill. After cooked squeeze fresh lime juice..yum! -marinade Bubba burger in a ziplock bag with fresh garlic(1tsp) and worchestshire -ckicken rub down w/virgin oil add greek seasoning -slice in half squash or zuchini and butter down place on grill for 5 minutes (tastes sweet) |

menu looks ok besides the LC cookie and bar...try substitutin with something else like some cucumbers in ranch dressing. Some other good induction snak ideas are pepperoni, sting chesse, and harnd bolied eggs. ALso, it looks to me like you could be eating alot more than you are. For breakfast try scrambling your eggs with some cheese and maybe throw some peppers or mushrooms in there. for lunch add a small chicken ceasar salad in, and for dinner try using some herbs or spices on your chicken. There are some great recipes in the recipe room and most list if they are ok for induction. GOOD LUCK
