copd & chf & adkins

Hello..I hope you can help me. I've been on Akins since Jan.1 and except for one night when I had a bun with my burger I've stuck really close to the right amounts of carbs. I've only lost approx. 5# in almost a month. My question. I take 5 meds for copd and congestive heart failure. These include 2 blood pressure pills one potassium pill one diaretic and one other hydralazine. I exercise everyday. I'm 200# trying to lose 25 more. At one point was 235.Lost that in the hospital back in June. Thanks for taking the time to read this. Look forward to any ideas you may have.

yes the betablockers that you are taking can stall weightloss. Can you post some of your daily menus for us?

copd etc...Matt

Thanks for the reply, I suspected as much.
My normal menu is hamburger patty and eggs for breakfast,,a geen salad or acorn squash for lunch and dinner is usually chicken stir-fry..fish or piece of meat w/veggies. Broccoli..asparagus or spinach. Beverage is always water. I take a B-complex and a combination calcium-magnesium-zinc vitamins.
The one thing I probably shouldn't be doing is I drink alot of coffee in the morning. Some habits are hard to break.
Thanks Bob

Bob your menu looks pretty good. Maybe you could cut down on the coffee.. the caffeine can really mess up your insulin. After you have done strict low carb for a few months, you might be able to stop taking the beta blockers because low carb normally brings down blood pressure.

Bob,
As you lose weight be sure and keep your doctor advised of your progress. When I first started I was taking 8mg cardura for BPH, 10 mg singulair and 250/50 advair for asthma. The advair caused the first problem with the loss of my voice and we found that could be eliminated all together. The second problem came with the Cardura causing my BP to hover around 100/50-110/60 so this had to be changed to 8mg Flomax. I don't know if you are taking the beta blockers for heart or prostate problems, but I would be very careful.
