Net carbs in Induction

Hello,

I've been on Atkins before and have 2 questions before getting started again:
1. The first time I was on Atkins I was successful in Induction counting all carbs (not just net carbs) - the second time around, I counted net and I was off program after three weeks. Do you suggest counting ALL carbs during induction?

2. Once I start in OWL (adding back carbs) my carb cravings were intolerable and it eventually landed me off program and I gained back more than I lost. I'm nervous to start Atkins a little because of this. Any thoughts?

Thanks so much!

Jen

I do. I just think it's better then counting net. That way I also know I have some free room if I need a snack later in the day.

Opinions vary on this one.

If 20 carbs total worked before for you, start from there now.. Stick with getting your carbs from veggies on the induction list..
Stay away from low carb products.. strictly observe the dairy and artificial sweetener limits.. Stay on induction... Cravings can come from 1) blood sugar reaction to carbs or 2) food intolerance...

Start with a strict induction for several weeks.. until you are losing weight and all cravings are gone.. you have quite a bit to lose.. you may want to stay on induction level carbs for a while.

The next step would be to try 20 net carbs.. but only the fiber from "real foods"... stick with induction list veggies as the source of your carbs..

Then... If you are still losing weight & no cravings.. slowly expand your diet.. one new food a week.. if you experience weight gain.. cravings.. digestive upset of any kind.. remove that food from your diet.. try another..

Everyone is different.. be patient.. eat cleanly.. go slowly.. find what works for you.. .

Best Wishes !

Just try eating clean and count all the carbs. Obviously net carbing doesn't work for many people.
