Help with induction.

Hi, I'm on my seventh day of induction. I'm getting sick of eating eggs for breakfast. I'm also getting sick of too much added oil. I always make my eggs with olive oil, but if my eggs are the slightest bit oily I want to gag. I think the problem I might be having is that I need more variety in my diet plan. The only type of animal protein that I will consume are eggs, poultry, and ground beef. I'm sick of fish. I don't eat steak because I feel like a carnal lion eating its kill. I used to be a vegetarian, so I'm still adjusting to eating meat again. I like cold cuts, but I don't know where to buy the nitrate free ones. Do you know if they sell them at Whole Foods market? I like tomatoes and onions, but someone from Atkins told me to minimize my consumption because they might be stalling my weight loss. I'm having a hard time taking all my vitamins, because they make me a bit nauseous. This happens despite the fact that I take them with meals. I try to take Ester C vitamin C, a B complex, and Atkins Basic 3 together. Could it be that i'm taking too many B vitamins? I take extra B vitamins because I'm slighty anemic, and to fight off depression. The only thing that makes this diet doable are my Atkins products. Everyday I have two Atkins advantage items, either a bar or a shake. My menu goes something like this:

B: Atkins ready to eat bread (3 g of carbs) with either cream cheese or mozzarella cheese and 3 scrambled eggs in olive oil
L: Atkins Advantage shake
D: animal protein w/ salad
s:Atkins advantage bar or shake

I'm only 21yrs old, but I have a slow metabolism. This week I started to do resistance exercises (weight lifting) for my arms to build lean muscle. I did 500 repetitions with low resistance. I used to be an avid runner, but I injured my knee running. I started doing light resistance exercises for my legs this week, to try and strengthen my leg muscles. Atkins is the only diet that works for me, so I don't want to give up. Do you have any suggestions? Thank you for your time.

Hello like you I am newly coming from being a vegetarian also the key is to plan you meals. Eggs are a good source of protein you can use in many diferent way during induction unfortunately your choices are limited I have been doing induction for 20 days and have to plan out each meal for example today I had eggs for breakfast and meat my dinner was delicious I had baked chicken but Ifound some grilled chicken by perdue at the supermarket with no carbs heated it and put it on a small salad with one boiled egg and one ounce of cheese. You can do just hang in there

Hi rdolldee,

Thank you for responding and thankyou for the support. wow, congratulations for being on induction for 20 days. How do you make your eggs? I scramble mine in olive oil. I have tried to add variety by adding everything from peppers to tomatoes, onions and mushrooms, but I am still sick of them. Do you think it might be the olive oil? Thank you for your time.

I do not love eggs - yet I am eating them and they do fill me up. The thought of scrambled eggs in olive oil really makes me nauseous. That could be it for you. I would put a little butter in the pan and then scramble your eggs. For a treat every once in a while put alittle heavy cream in when you are scrambling. Try that - it might just do the trick. Keep it up!!!

Products can help bring more variety into your diet, but the focus should be on whole foods, and the menu you posted does not reflect this. Eggs can get repetetive, but try making different types of omelettes, experiment with different veggies and different types of cheeses. You need to include more fiber in your diet, and adding more veggies will do just that. Cold cuts are a great idea as well. Multivitamins are to supplement your diet in case you are not getting the recommended amounts of nutrients but do not replace the nutrients you should be getting from whole foods. You'll get all the B vitamins you need from your meals and the multivitamin, taking more won't do any harm but you're body will get rid of what you don't need. Check out atkins.com for ideas on what whole foods and recipes to start including into meal planning. Good luck.

If you need variety, don't always do what's expected of you. Try deviled eggs in the morning. Fix your eggs with ground beef. Or make a tuna/onion omlette--it's really tasty. Add a touch of garlic (and if allowed) tomato to your eggs (One of my friends stuck her tongue out--now it's her favorite way to do eggs). I don't eat pork or processed meats but you could add a little turkey ham to your eggs--use butter instead of olive oil. Or, don't even eat eggs for breakfast--try something else.
I have trouble with variety myself--but it's because I'm too lazy to look into the new recipes coming out all the time--I tend to stickto the same thing day after day--then complain when I get tired of LC :duh:
One more thing--500 reps is a LOT. Go to www.burnthefat.com and read what he has to say about exercise--he's great. I concentrate on heavier weight--SLOW and fewer repetition. Doesn't burn me out and the results will amaze you.
Good Luck
