my doctor has me taking 160mg of lasix a day and im on induction

hi im on day 13 of induction and i weigh 480lbs and just suffered from congestive heart failure 1 year ago my doctor has me taking 160mg of lasix a day I also have severe vascular insufficiency in both legs with venus stasis ulcers if i dont take my lasix my leg ulcers will open n weep will the lasix slow my weight loss??

I doubt it. That is a lot of Lasix - in due time, perhaps he can cut back the mg's as the weight and problems lower. I have heard people have been able to get off them all together.

I am curious, does the doctor have you also drink a lot of water? What was his/her recommendation with that high amount of lasix?

Thanx for your help The doctor doesnt want me drinking any more than 64 oz of water a day due to the fact that the more I drink the more I retain

I don't think the lasix would slow down your weight loss. I can see why your Doctor has you on a limit of water, due to your Congestive Heart Failure. I would also think with time ( once your Congestive Heart Failure is under control) hopefully he will be able to decrease your lasix and you can increase your liquids. Try the Century Club for information. You have come to a wonderful site, there are alot of people to answer questions. Welcome again.

Ken after the nutritionist helps you.........please come on ovah to the Century Club board..............there are some folks ovah there that have lost large amounts of weight and have dealt with health issues of having more than 100 pounds to loose and they are sure so good at supporting you. There's some men ovah there too
