im on induction....
Hi im on induction phase of atkins and I wanted to know if you can overdose on good green vegetables for example going into dinner I had 9 carbs at dinner I had pork roast (no carbs) roasted green cabbage and celery with soy sauce and baked fresh broccoli and last but not least the star of the show fried red cabbage,fried in bacon grease and served with bacon each vegetable was one serving (about the size of the palm of my hand) but I weigh 480lbs so thats a big hand lol Im on day 13 and Iam losing but when your my size you cant go to a drugstore and buy one of those sissy scales that only go up to a wimpy 300lbs( I havent been there since 3rd grade lol) and when I go to a weight watchers meeting just to use their scale I see the look of horror in the eyes of the person weighing me and I swear theyre makin it up cause theyre too embarrassed to tell me that their scale doesnt go that high for example when I was actively doing weight watchers they tried to tell me I lost 32lbs in one week I went home excited and bent over to pick something up and my pants ripped right down the middle

I am cannot recall all the Atkins do's and don'ts but wanted to say good luck to you! Please post often and I hope you have wonderful success ![]() You are in the right place for it! 32 pounds in 1 week! Use your clothes to measure - they don't lie. Ken,
Have you read the Atkins Essentials?? If not I strongly recommend it. I think you are o.k. on the veggies. It was very important to me to know exactly what was going on in my body. I have been on Atkins over a year and it knowing what will happen if I step aside the low carb lifestyle helps me keep on the straight and narrow. Sugar cravings kills me sometimes. Glad to have you aboard!! |

You won't be 'overdosing' on green vegetables. The beauty of subtracting out the fiber so that you are counting Net Carbs is that it allows you to include even more vegetables, which means even more fiber!
Good luck to you and keep us updated on how you are doing. Don't focus on the scale, buy tape measures so you can track how many inches you are losing. This will give you a good indication of your progress. |

Ken, you can do it, just hang in there and stick to the low carb plan ok.
I sent you a private message so be looking for it. I feel that low carb is the diet plan you can lose on. I was over 300 lbs. when I began and its been over 4 yrs. now to and I am still loseing. Not as fast as I did at first bgut i am still sticking to my low carb and eathing healthy and feel so much better than I did when I was so large. You really to need make low carb a way of eating for life, I know I am doing it because it is healthy and you can lose your weight with it to. And it easy to follow and I feel its the best ever deit plan that you can stick with for life. Its not like all those fad diets out there, its a real weight lost plan that si successful when you stick with it because it allows you to eat so much good foods that are healthy for you and you never feel deprived of anything you want to eat except for white food products like breads and white rice and cookies and junk food but over time you will not even miss those foods. I know after all the time I have been on Atkins those type of foods almost make me ill if i taste or eat it. I feel that after your body rids itself of all that bad stuff like white food product and heavy starch foods it cannot tolerate it when you eat it again. I also feel that those bad foods cause alot of health probvlems because they did for me and now I am suffering with those health problems for the rest of my life. Just wish I had known what I was doing to my body eating all that junk i use to eat .Wish I had found atkins sooner maybe i would have never gained like i did. Wish i had been educated on how foods and being so large could effect your health like it does. But I just never thought of it until I got so big. I just went through life eating what i wanted and liked givng no consideration to what I was doing to my body. BUt with low carb you can lose the weight and also keep it off to for life. Just do as I did and study and research all you can on low carb and you will find so much information that will help you, you will find foods that you can eat and the ones to stay away from, you can find recipes and most of all you can find friends on the low carb here that will support you all the way through you touch times and good times. You make friends here that understand what you are going through because they to are in the same position as you are with their weight to. Some have more to lose than others but we all feel the same about our weight porblem. Take care of yourself , you can do it. we are all here for you. |
