Cravings: Return to Induction?
I have been doing Atkins since late June 2003 and doing very well. Have lost about 130 pounds (21 to go to be in "normal" range...), cholesterol is now normal without pills (very high cholesterol runs rampant in my family) and i have tons of energy.
I exercise regularly (20 minute walk and two 20 minute sessions of stretching / calisthenics every day). I try to keep my carb count around 30-35 (although I have been a little lax on this recently). I don't know if it's just the length of time or the fact that I've been under some stress recently, but i have noticed that the cookies and pretzels and such in the mall are looking awfully good recently. I haven't had cravings like this in a really long time. Do you think if i went back to Induction level for a week that it would help? Or should I just drink more water or should I just wait it out or...? |

i dont see any need to go back to induction, its probably because you have been eating more carbs than you are use to (as you said.) Cut back to your normal range and the cravings will probably go away.

Congrats on your success! That is truly amazing!
You do not need to go back on Induction. The Atkins Nutritional Approach will help you do a lot of things, but completely getting rid of cravings is not one of them. It's not only about food choices, it's about learning behavior modification techniques. You have to fight the cravings and you have to figure out ways that will work for you. If it means drinking water every time you feel a craving come on, that would be the way to go. Or if it means mentally creating an image that eating pretzels and cookies will taste like dirt, that would be the way to go too. It doesn't matter what you do, only that you don't give into the craving! Good luck! |

Thanks for the advice. I'm so close to my goal that I think I'm getting a little anxious.
I like the dirt suggestion. Truth be told, the few times that i have caved, the experience has been less than satisfying. I just need to make sure I remember this. |
