Stalling food
I have seen many people talk about the food that has stalled them. Can someone explain to me food that stalls? Does caffine? aspartame? bars? Shakes? any veggies? any proteins?
Please help, I want this one to work!!! |

Welcome to the boards! I know, the terminology can get a little overwhelming sometimes.
A stalling food is something that particularly stalls some people. Of course french fries stall everyone, but usually when people are talking about stalling foods they mean foods that are technically "legal" but for some reason don't do so well with some people. I've heard people mention dairy, sugar alcohols, processed meats, salty foods, and so forth. Any foods not on the Atkins list are suspect, and treat them with caution. And if you do stall, then you start cutting out possible culprits. When I first started this diet a year ago I was stressed out too, worried that I wouldn't do things right. But now it's so second nature I don't even think about it very much any more. It will get that way for you too. ![]() |

thanks!
Thanks for that insight SeattleGirl. I am going to be working very hard for the next 2 weeks to follow induction perfectly. I just love sweet things and don't want them to stall me if I eat the atkins bars or foods like that.

Good luck! I would definitely stay away from the low carb bars and stuff at least for induction. If you need something sweet, your best bet is to make something legal, and there's a lot of good ones! Here's a website that's really helpful: http://users3.ev1.net/~fontlady/index.html

Happyday, welcome
![]() I personally never eat any of the bars or shakes, I just dont' like them and way too many carbs for me. I do find if I eat pork rinds, cheese more than a couple times a week and I'm talking 2 oz at a time, and of course low carb ice cream bars waaah love those, all that stalls me. I'm a slow loser though and have accepted that. Good luck and keep us informed of your journey ![]() |

I see it this way- If its man made- it can stall you.
Bars shakes too much cheese too much dairy anything hot dogs, lunch meats- SODIUM |

Keep in mind that a stall is defined as no weight loss for four weeks. It's unlikely that a specific food or ingredient is the cause of a stall, rather it would be a combination of a few different foods that may cause you to be eating more carbs than you realize. If you're rate of loss slows, the best thing you can do is change up your meal planning or vary the number of times a day you eat (6 small meals as opposed to 3 meals and 2 snacks).

The low carb bars always got me in a stall. I just quite eating them and when I want something sweet I just make me some sugar free jello and top it with some whip cream.
Also I stay away from all the frozen low carb foods. I found out that they made me swell some, I think they may have to much salt in them or something. |

from my experience, the two things that make me stall are aspartame and caffeine (since caffeine does give me carb cravings).
YMMV good luck and welcome to the board =) |
