A question about calories
Hi,
I know that I am supposed to eat at least 30 carbs because I am hypothyroid. How many calories should I be eating? My weight right now is 216. As I lose more weight, how should I adjust my calorie intake? I have read that it should be 10X your weight. Some say 10X your current weight, and some say it is your goal weight. Thank you for your help, Martha |

There are many different calculations that can be done to estimate caloric needs and the mathmatical formulas require height, weight, age, gender, activity levels, and weight loss goals. But I always try to stress that the amount of calories you need can be determined by listening to your body. Eat when you are hungry, stop when you are full. Even if you weren't planning on eating between breakfast and lunch, or lunch or dinner, and you get hungry, that's when you know your body needs energy. If you are losing now, continue following your current meal planning. If you come to a plateau, you may need to play around with your meal planning and exercise routine. Good luck!
