Gross Topic - Diarrhea

Hello -

I just started reinduction after being away from the LC woe for almost 2 years. Anyways I'm wondering....what would cause diarrhea in only 2 days? I seem to recall the last time I was eating this way I got it quite frequently. Usually people complain they get constipated but I seem to get the runs instead?

Is there something I need to take? Here's a sample diet from yesterday

Breakfast -
6 slices bacon
1 large cup of coffee
1 glass of water

Lunch -
1 slice rye bread (11gms)
4 slices of boiled ham
1 cup cauliflower
6 radishes
5 carrots
1 oz ranch
1 32 oz diet coke

Dinner -
6 chicken tenders (coated in parmesean cheese)
Salad with Italian Dressing (romaine and iceberg)
2 scrambled eggs
2glasses 32oz water
Hot Tea

This morning Diarrhea!!???? Can anyone help? Any suggestions?

I'm not 100% positive on what would cause the diarreah from looking at your menu, nothing jumps out. Perhaps try adding in some cheese? It looks like you didn't have any at all (aside from the Parmesan.) Cheese is notorious for 'stopping things up' a bit. Maybe that'll help calm the diarreah.

If you are re-inducting, you might want to cut the carrots and bread out though.

5 whole carrots? Maybe a "Rye" reaction as well. I'd stay away from the grains through induction at least.

Diarrhea is uncommon in people doing Atkins. In fact, people on Induction are more likely to initially experience constipation. Unsweetened psyllium husks can be added, which act as a sponge, soaking up water and helping form a normal stool. If you don't respond to that treatment, then look at the amount of fat you are eating. If you have been on an extremely low-fat diet prior to starting Atkins, it may take your body a while to adjust.

If dietary fat is not the cause, diarrhea could also result from taking the recommended supplements. Try stopping them for a week, then if the diarrhea goes away, reintroduce them one at a time. So long as you have diarrhea, it is especially important to drink a minimum of eight glasses of water a day to avoid dehydration.

Thanks for all the help. Oh and no not 5 whole carrots....5 baby carrots (the little bitty sized ones). Not the bugs bunny sized carrots hehe.

Cheese seems to make me stall a bit when i eat too much so i try to avoid too much of it but maybe that will help.

It could also be a reinduction thing too...

Thanks again.

I always have this problem when I eat bacon. I guess too much grease or something.

I noticed on your menu that you drink diet pop. Diet drink have aspertame in them and will cause diareha. Also, caffine will cause a lose stool as well. When I cut out the pop and coffee Im fine, Good Luck
