Artificial sweeteners are safe to use during pregnancy.
While there have been some members of the public and a few scientists who have raised concerns about their safety, the majority of physicians and scientists believe it is safe when used in moderation during pregnancy and research studies supports this. The main health issue for pregnant women who use artificial sweeteners is that they may be missing out on more nutritious foods and beverages. A women who drinks a lot of diet soda, for instance, may not be getting enough water, milk, or juice, which are all beneficial to her developing baby.
