Blood Pressure

130/73 is that ok... or close to high?

Today at the DR they took a bunch of Blood tomorrow I get an Ultra sound on the pelvic area.
We will find out why I stopped having TOMS and why the Weightloss has stopped. They believe Thyroid, but I will wait and see. I also asked for all the other numbers for cholesteral.

Your blood pressure is in the normal range. I was thrilled when mine got that low. I do know that low thyroid will cause the things you are experiencing. I know from my own experience. I hope you are doing better soon.

How great that you have a doctor that wants to actually run all the tests and find out what is going on with you.

Blood pressure can be a funny thing, too. When I had mine read in August, it was 138/90. Then, this month, it was really low, like 90/60something, I can't remember exactly. Then the other day at Sam's, it was 116/94. It is probably better to take several readings over time to get a good idea.

I sure hope you find out what is going on and that it is nothing but good news. Take care!!

According to the new guidelines from the American Heart Association, the new classification – “prehypertension” – describes people with blood pressures between 120-139 millimeters of mercury (mm Hg) systolic (the top number in a blood pressure reading) or 80-89 mm Hg diastolic (bottom number). Your top number being 130 would put you in this category. But it is true that one reading may not reflect what your actual blood pressure is. Prehypertension isn't typically treated, it's just a way to focus physician, patient and public attention on blood pressure in these ranges to motivate them to adopt health-promoting lifestyles. Keep us updated on what you find out from the doctor about your thyroid.

Diana, out of curiosity, how long have you gone without a TOM? I have not had one since May, and everytime I see my doctor, she says I shouldn't worry about it, that my hormones are just acting funny because I'm young (18). I also had a thyroid test done, but she called when she got the results and said everything was normal. However, it does not look like they did the tests right. I think she marked it for Free T4, TSH, and T3 uptake? There was no Free T3 even available to mark on the lab sheet. I think there is something wrong with my thyroid but my parents and my doctor think it's just me looking for something to be wrong. I don't know if I want to push the matter and in the end find out that there was really nothing wrong.

Diana when my thyoid was out of wack, my pressure was up about yours or a bit higher.. since come down to normal. I hope they ran the right tests for your thyoid.. get copies of all blood work. Post if you need some help.

Glasnost you need to get a copy of your labs, and not take the word of the nurse over the phone.. The proper tests are TSH, FREE t3 and FREE t4 Nothing else can replace those tests.

your TSH should be under one, and FREE T's MID range OR HIGHER! Forgot what says "normal" on the "lab ranges" we all know what those really mean

I will try. I was so sure I had an understanding with my doctor about what I needed... being at school makes it difficult for me to pull away, so I was really hoping it would all get done right the first time. It's not cool having to fight this stuff when it comes to your health. ><

Ileen, I will request all my tests.

No TOM in 4 months, that isn't normal. From Someone who was normal even after starting Atkins 1 year ago. At first the DR wanted t blame it on Atkins but changed her mind after I told her this started only about 4 months ago.

Had the external and internal U/S yesterday, damn that hurt!!
Stillwaiting to hear results of Blood work too..

I'll let you all know as soon as I hear

Hope they find out what's going on with your TOM. I was told to aim for 120 and under on the top number, but that might vary just a bit by doctor. My bottom number was in the low 90s (91, 92) and my doctor felt that was too high as well, but your bottom number looks great.

Good luck and keep us posted!

Tests all came out normal.. She was super theral and as the Nurse said, girl you wont have blood left when I am done. I am in Menopause, and the overies are cystic. She said we could try to get them to work if Ken and I wanted anymore children and I let her know we were done. So Basically with my past hystory of being a late bloomer, then a child real young who passed, and a few other things including carrying Casey who about killed me, she tortured me! LOL and then the bad infection after.

I should have known. Oh well
