Picaboo,

Thanks for posting menus, will make it a lot easier to give some guidance. Did you just start Induction? If so, it may take a few days for your body to adjust to fat burning metabolism so that could be the cause of your initial lack of energy. As for the first menu, I would cut back on the amount of cheese. Maybe have a snack between breakfast and lunch, that way you won’t be so hungry for the snack after lunch. You may need to add that morning snack in so you never feel deprived, as it seems you do from your comment ‘it felt so good to eat’. And are you eating enough? You didn’t specify what size ‘very small’ meatballs are or what size chicken breast you ate. And in the second menu, ‘half palm of hand’ chicken breast doesn’t seem like it would be enough. You should always eat before exercise, which your third menu doesn’t reflect.

Specific recommendations would be to start eating 6 small meals, making sure you eat enough at each meal. You should never feel starving for your next meal. And take your multivitamin every day. You didn’t specify which veggies you choose, you may want to consider also taking a fiber supplement. And increase your veggies if it stays within your net carbs. What is your weight loss goal? And how many net carbs are you eating? And how much weight have you lost? Do you run 3-5 miles every day? You may want to consider mixing up your routine which may help speed up weight loss. Hope this helps!

I dont count my carbs every day (only when I find the mood for that. Dont like to deal with that the same as I dont want to deal counting calories.
For now knowing that SO many thing are not on my plate anymore and doing portion size...seems much for now.

...Six samll meal - sound good! - started....already feel much
better inside :-))))......

...Usally in a good week - I do my run 5 to 6 day - early morning on empty sotmak....(read its burn more fat)
...Also doing gym - depend on my lazyness - 2-3 times a week - all budy lifiting.

.........The conclustions is.....6 small meal...and time-time :-)
Hope later on you would like to hear if that is working for me.

That's great that you are learning from the principles from the Atkins Nutritional Approach in order to make changes in your meal planning. Glad to hear you are feeling better already. But please try to eat something before you run in the mornings. Running on an empty stomach is like trying to drive a car with no gas in the tank. Good luck!

Pica..will leave the menu alone..but will comment on just the runing part. I started running about 4 weeks ago. I was told to either eat 2 hours before (and I run at around 7-7:30 am) or 1/2 hour after for best results. I was having breakfast first..then running..and not feeling real good. I started to wait and eat 1/2 hour after this last week..and it made a huge huge diffrence. Yeah..I wake a bit hungry..but eating at 5:30 was just way too early for me. Since waiting untill after..I feel much better on my run..more energy..stomach hunger sems to lessen once I'm going..and overall...I'm runing much beter.

So..not sure if your waiting 2 hurs after a meal to exercise..and if you are..then maybe try to wait and eat after and see if it helps

Pica,

Yeah..basically I am. I've been wlking through most of my loss and do yoga 3 nights a week..but relly wnted to start exercising on a regular basis...This is one are I have struggled with over my 4 years of low-carbing! I started ut by just walking fast the first week..but decided I could do more. I then started to walk 15 min..run for 15 and then 5 cool down walk. I'm now up to about 10 min walking..30-45 min. run and 5-10 cool down. I tried every way to et before..small meals..or just protein..and I always felt like I was going to throw-up 1/4 way into my run. I also felt like my legs we're made of led!

So I started to run first thing am beofre eating. I am hungry when I start..but after about 10 min it goes away. I then eat 20-30 min after I get back. It's worked great! I don't feel sick when running..and I feel much lighter in my tennies

Are you on Atkin's induction? If so, you're not allowed fruit on induction....

Are you taking your supplements? You could feel the way you describe if you're not getting a good potassium supplement.

I don't run in the mornings anymore, but when I did I always did it on an empty stomach, and now I do my runs in the evening when the kids are in bed and I know I have to wait at least 2 hours after I've eaten, the longer the better, or otherwise I get some very bad cramps.

And I was exhausted when I first started Atkins too, couldn't get through my workouts, and was just very tired. Lasted 6 weeks! But then finally regained my strength, and it was worth it.

If you are in the early stages of Atkins, I would not eat the rolls, apples, or kiwis, and less cheese and more meat and veggies. If you must eat fruit, go for the berries.

Cheers!
