Need help

I just went back on Atkins, so I am in Induction. Here is my problem. The weight does not seem to be coming off like it did when I did Atkins 4 years ago. I lost 100 pounds in like 8 months then. Now, I have about 40-50 to lose.....anyway
Here is a sample diet

Bfast
2 eggs scrambled with 1 slice american cheese

snack
Atkins Shake

Lunch
Atkins Advantage Bar

Dinner
Salad made with lettuce, onion, tomato, 1 hard boiled egg, 2 slices ham, 1/4 cup shredded cheese topped with 4TBS Ranch

Snack
1 carbolite candy bar or something like that for my sweet fix

I am big on convienience as I often don't have a lot of time to cook.
Should I be making any changes, am I doing something wrong??

In My opinion. Lose the American cheese- go with a Swiss or something differnet more natural

Lose the bars and shakes. Maybe take a weekend make Flax Muffins, little Sausage egg Muffins (in a muffin tin) Boil eggs for quick grab and go. Even Tuna Packs with Mayo Packs, those are convenient

Hi Hillary,
Congrats on your success in the past and for deciding to get back on track with the Atkins Nutritional Approach. Please note that, unfortunately, as we get older weight loss may not occur at the same rate as what previously experienced. So that may be one reason why you are not seeing the results you once did. But it is also menu planning related.

I want to stress that convenience does not mean the same thing as product. I agree with Diano about the tuna packs. That is an example of a convenience whole food. Products are for occasional use- to hold you over when you don't have time to prepare a meal and for an occasional treat. Looking at your menu, 3 of the 5 times you eat are made up of products. Breakfast and dinner look fine. But preparing convenience whole foods and recipes on the weekend is a great idea for meals and snacks for your busy weeks. Cooking may take time, but this isn't really cooking. It's advance preparing and just takes a little pre-planning and makes a world of a difference.

Good luck!

Hiya, i would have thought that when you were on atkins last time, there was not such a range of foods like shakes etc that were easily accessible...did you eat as much of those things whilst on it last time??
If you didnt i would susspect that's the downfall, however, I have heard as well that it is always harder to lose weight on atkins second time around.
good luck anyway!

Like you I did Atkins almost 4 years ago and lost fairly quickly on induction. i started in September of this year and have lost, but it took me getting rid of all the bars, shakes, and everything like that.

I also don't eat cheese because it makes my weightloss stall. I had to really monitor my water intake because this too, was causing stalls in weightloss.

I had a baby about 2 1/2 years ago and I feel this contributed to my lack of losing and my slow start this time again. But, I feel great and continue to monitor every single that that goes into my mouth!

I think if you go for more whole foods and not so much of the bars and shakes, you'll see an improvement.

Good luck!

Thank you all for your advice. I did just have a baby 5 months ago and I know your body changes after, so that may be part of it. I did use the bars a lot when I lost the weight before, ate a bar for bfast and one for lunch usually, then a whole food dinner. I seemed to do fine with it. However, I will try and cut them out this time and see if that makes a difference.
