Carb Intake
Ok -- I have another question. The past week, I have hardly been hungry. I don't think I have been getting 10 carbs in a day even! What are the negative affects of not having 20 carbs during induction? It seems the only time I cam hungry is first thing in the morning....sometimes late evening.
ALso, are sunflower seed (in the hull) not okay on induction? Final question -- can your monthly cycle make it appear that you are in a stall or that you have gained a couple pounds?? Thanks.. I think that is all for now!! LOL Angela Week 3 Induction

Pookies:
When i first did induction, i was having LESS than 10 carbs a day... the negative affects i BELIEVE is that you're body NEEDS at least SOME carbs to operate and function... if you don't give your body the minimum of at least 15-20 carbs a day, it'll hold on to the 5-10 carbs you give it because it doesn't know when it's gonna be getting more carbs... i stalled for a LONG time because for so long i thought i'd lose more if i only had like 5-7 carbs a day, but then i learned that having so little is even worse!! try eating more veggies... and having your carbs in the version of a salad... i don't know about the sun flower seeds.... but as for your monthly cycle, i know that i definitely stall when my time comes around... hope i helped!!! GOOD LUCK!!

Hi Pookies,
Your fellow lowcarbers gave you some great advice. You should never purposely aim to eat less than 20 grams of carbs a day, as Nixity pointed out that will actually hinder your weight loss, but there may be times when your appetite is suppressed and you may fall short. To allow you to maintain that 20 grams through Induction, make sure you plan ahead so that the carbs that you choose are the most carb-dense, that way you are eating a smaller amount of food which you are likely to tolerate better with your decreased appetite while still meeting the 20 grams. My next question for you is how long do you plan to stay in Induction? This is a personal decision based on the amount you have to lose and other factors such as how well you are able to adhere to this first phase without feeling deprived, your daily routine etc. By increasing your carbs, you will have your appetite back and as Diana pointed out, you may lose faster. Just have to find the meal planning that works best for you. 3 tablespoons of sunflower seeds has around 5 grams of carbs. Seeds and Nuts are not appropriate for the first two weeks of Induction. You want to meet your 20 grams with the most nutrient and fiber rich vegetables in Induction. You can add sunflower seeds as you move in OWL. Your monthly cycle can most definitely affect your rate of weight loss as well as the number appearing on the scale. Your hormones are just doing their jobs and don’t realize that they are getting in the way! Don’t let that discourage you! Good luck! |
