My First Day
I am starting Atkins today and hoping to say farewell to 130 pounds. My question is about flaxseed....I don't know much about it. I suffer from both chronic diahhrea and constipation...it's one or the other never a nice in between. How much flaxseed can be taken each day on Atkins?

Welcome Hector!
You can go to Atkinscenter.com and get all the info you need. I have read the book many times, but still refer to the site for info. Good luck to you! |

You want to aim to get 25-35 grams of fiber each day. If you find that your menu planning of whole foods falls short of this, that's when you want to consider supplementing your diet. Flaxseed is a great way to meet your fiber requirements. The amount depends on your needs. How much fiber do you get from whole foods and how much more do you need to meet your requirement? More important than numbers, how much do you need so that you don't experience constipation or diarrhea? When you determine the answer to these questions, that when you know how much you should be taking.
