Another 5

I posted this in the Main Lobby, but maybe this is a better place for my question.......

I reached my goal weight and have been maintaining just fine for over a month now. I've lived with it, clothed it, looked at it, pinched it and have determined I'd like to drop another 5. I carry excess weight right around the middle...looks just fine in clothes, but lumpy and fluffy nekid!!
I realize it's going to be difficult and probably a slow go. I'm wondering if I should drop back to induction level carbs or go back to OWL and increase excerise. Any thoughts?

Congrats on reaching your goal, and maintaining it! That is great! You may get some different responses from your fellow lowcarbers in the main lobby but here’s my thoughts.

I wouldn’t recommend going back to induction. Your aim in following the Atkins Nutritional Approach is to slowly add back carbs so you can find the level at which you can maintain. You have already found that level, so going backwards to such a drastic degree will potentially throw off the threshold of carbs that your body knows that it can maintain. Just as you slowly increase your carbs by 5 g of net carbs per week, try reducing them by 5 g per week, and you may also want to mix up your exercise routine a little bit too. If 5 g less doesn’t do the trick, reduce them by another 5, but you may want to wait longer than a week to reduce it again. Be patient and know that these last 5 pounds will probably not come off as fast as you had lost in the past, but that is actually a good thing, b/c you can learn then how to maintain it with your meal planning and your body can learn as well.

Good luck and keep us posted on your progress!

Thanks for your response. I know it's going to take longer, so I 'think' I'm prepared for that.
