diuretic question
Is there ever a time that it is okay to take a diuretic on a controlled carbohydrate WOE?
I am talking about once every 4 weeks or more and only 10 mg. Lasix. Can this be harmful? |

There are also several categories of drugs that can cause adverse effects when taken while on a controlled carbohydrate eating plan. Diuretics are one of these drugs because reducing your carbohydrate intake alone can have a dramatic diuretic effect. You will need to be closely supervised in order to adjust your dosage. You need to speak to your doctor immediately to help to adjust your dosages.
There are two other categories of drugs those following a controlled carb approach need to discuss first with their doctor. Since Atkins is so effective at lowering high blood sugar, people who take insulin or oral diabetes medications that control blood sugar can end up with dangerously low blood sugar levels. You will need to be closely supervised in order to adjust your dosage. That’s because the weight-loss phases of Atkins will naturally normalize your blood sugar levels. In combination with your pharmaceuticals, you could put yourself at risk for hypoglycemia. Also, Atkins has a strong blood pressure lowering effect and can easily convert blood pressure medications into an overdose, so those on blood pressure meds should speak to their doctors too. |
