About Alcohol

Alright , i have been low carbing since 9-12-04 and this weekend i wanna go out with some friends , havent did that in awhile and i actually starting to feel like going out , even though it was only a 6 pound loss it sure boots your self esteem , so my question is , will i gain weight even if i only drink the low carb stuff such as mik ultra or a bacardi and diet coke ?? or should i not at all , that would suck though cause im really looking forward to it ??
Thanks
Kath

Congrats on your success so far!

If you are following the Atkins Nutritional Approach, starting with Induction, alcohol is not allowed. But the ANA is also about making smarter choices that you can incorporate into your life. You may not lose weight at the rate you would have if you follow the phases strictly but finding the meal planning that is right for you will allow you to maintain your weight loss, while still allowing you to live your life. If going out is part of your life and you want to order a drink, it may hinder your progress, but if you would feel like this would be depriving you, this is the choice you will have to make. It’s all about making smarter choices. You can either order a drink or not, and continue with your success. Or you can order the smartest choice drink- a low carb version, which may interfere with your loss, but may not to the degree of a regular version of the drink. This is the choice you will have to make, and will have to continue making as you continue with this since it’s not a ‘diet’ but an approach to eating for a lifetime. Good luck!
