low carb chocolate vs. real chocolate
Just wondering...
since almost everyone i talk to is saying that the whole net carb thing is completely off, and that even tho the sugar alcohols and such are metabolized slowly they should still be counted, i was just wondering...is there even a difference in the affect that a real chocolate bar would make compared to a low carb chocolate bar? I just mean if i were to treat myself to a low carb goody, should i might as well go for the real deal??? |

While most low carb bars stall, they are not nearly as bad as a real chocolate bar with sugar. If you can find either the Hershey 1 sugar carb bar, or the Zcarb bars, they are made with erythritol. Erythritol is the absolute best sugar alcohol, it is 0 on the glycemic index and i havent heard one person say that it stalls them. Personally i have eaten two in a day before for a couple days in a row and not had any problems. *knock on wood* So if you want some good low carb chocolate bars, eat those. But please do not eat a regular chocolate bar, its much worse than sugar alcohol sweetened ones.

Matt is correct. On the occasions that you are craving a treat and will feel deprived without one, it is better to choose a low-carb bar than the regular version. But remember that whole foods should be the focus of your meal planning, and also that everyone’s response to sugar alcohols are different, not only in terms of how they effect weight loss but also the GI effects.
