Atkins Nutritionist is still here!
Hi everyone,
Just wanted to clarify that a nutritionist from Atkins Health and Medical Information Services will still be here to answer your questions on this bulletin board. The Farewell thread was posted by a nutritionist who is no longer with the company. But the other nutritionists at Atkins will continue to be a resource for you to have all your questions answered and concerns addressed. |

Would you please address the justification/science behind "slowly metabolized carbs" not counting in the day's total carbs eaten. It seems that if it is metabolized at all, than it is affecting our body chemistry and should be counted.
This of course is very significant with SAs. I thought that people who could handle eating candy/foods with sugar alcohols without gastric distress ARE metabolizing those carbs. It's when they're not metabolized that the gastric distress occurs, right? |

Cherbear,
I replied to your question in the original thread that you posted: Rationale for "slowly metabolized carbs" not counting. |

Hi, I have a question.
I have been on Atkins since February this year (2004) I have done very well, I'm on owl and don't think I did it right I mean I still mainted 20 gr for about a month after induciton. Now, I'm about 30 - 40 avg per day. I'm stuck but don't want to go back to induction for 2weeks. But overall I am impressed with the Diet and usually defend it against folk who HAVE'NT read the book, yet tell why Atkins is unsafe. My question is (after all that lol) And please be honest have there been any harmful effects from the diet long term, say a year or more?
