Suggestions Please
Hi,
I've been doing Atkins since 4/13/04. I've lost 45 lbs to date which I am very pleased with however, my weight loss seems to be at a stand still and I would like some suggestions. When I began the Atkins WOE, I was 245 lbs. I am now down to 200. I am posting my average menu here for your review. Breakfast: 2 egg cheese omelette, made with 1 oz. cheddar cheese, 2 brown & serve sausages, 1 cup decaf coffee with 2 Tablespoons half & half or 1 Tablespoon heavy cream Lunch: 2 cups salad with grilled chicken strips or a scoop of homemade tuna salad (solid white albacore tuna, packed in water, dill relish, onion & herb Mrs Dash, a little mayo (Hellmann's real mayo) Snack: 1 oz mozzarella string cheese or pepperoni Dinner: Chicken, Beef, or Fish with 1 cup of veggie ( usually green beans, broccoli, cauliflower, spinach or zucchini) Dessert: 1 oz cream cheese mixed with a little splenda, 1 teaspoon sour cream, Atkins choclate or hazelnut syrup I drink 100 oz a day of water. I walk 2-3 miles 3 days a week. Should I change anything?? Suggestions please. Thanks, JerseyGyrl ![]()

Congrats on your weight loss!
Has anything changed since the start of your plateau, eating, lifestyle...? There are a few things that may be adding hidden carbs: brown & serve sausages, 2 Tablespoons half & half (has more carbs than cream), dill relish, herb Mrs Dash (not sure read label), pepperoni Dinner: Chicken, Beef, or Fish with 1 cup of veggie ( usually green beans, broccoli, cauliflower, spinach or zucchini) The one thing you did not mention was inches. Many people who exercise do not always lose weight as consistently as they lose inches. Is this possible in your case? Kudos to you on the exercise and water intake! Are you taking a multi-vitamin? Have you tried a supplement, ie Accel to help with your stall? |

Thank you for your quick response. To my knowledge, my eating nor my lifestyle has changed. I count net carbs (subtracting the fiber) and try to stay between 20-25 per day. I read labels and go by serving size & carb count.
I am not sure about losing inches as I have not measured Yes, I do take Olay complete womens multivitamin, as well as a garlic pill & biotin everyday. I am interested in learning more about the Atkins Accel. I am very sensitive to anything with too much Chromium, it gives me severe stomach cramps. I would appreciate your help as to whether or not you believe this would be helpful for me due to my situation. Thanks, JerseyGyrl ![]() Last edited by JerseyGyrl : 09-24-2004 at 09:32 AM. |

I am still waiting to hear about any inches lost?
As far as Accel, I have seen it work for those in similiar situations. I suggest you try it for 4-6 weeks, give it a chance to work. If not other supplements may be helpful. The trick is to get to the root of the problem of why you are not losing inches or weight. Once you discover this, you will best be able to use the correct remedy. Despit your "net carb" total intake, attention should be focused on the foods I listed earlier. |

Thanks very much for all your help. I will be looking into the Atkins Accel today as well as reviewing the foods you mentioned. I believe that will be a big step in the right direction.
Thanks, JerseyGyrl ![]() |

I was just reading about Atkins Accel on Netrition, and see it contains "naturally occuring caffeine"....I am caffeine sensitive, would it be ok for me to take this or is there another product without caffeine you can suggest?
Thanks, JerseyGyrl ![]() |

Are you taking any antibiotics? I was stalled for 6 months after a 30lb loss in 3 months. I tried every stall buster trick out there, nothing worked. Then I realized my stall happened at exactly the same time I began long-term antibiotics. Two weeks ago I cut out the cheeses & nuts and began taking acidophilus. This week, I have dropped 5lbs.
I'm told it may not happen that quickly for others, but that getting rid of the yeast will help you lose weight again. |

I was very leery of taking the Atkins Accel when I learned it contains caffeine ( no matter how small the amount ). So, I went to my local pharmacy and I purchased a bottle of Nature's Bounty Cider Vinegar tablets. I take 2 tablets with every meal. Guess what...I've lost 2 lbs!!!! I am finally in onederland!!!!!!!!!
and absolutely caffeine free!! Thanks, JerseyGyrl ![]() |

Mandy,
Cider Vinegar naturally helps your body get rid of excess fluids, helps speed up a slow metabolism and helps to curb your appetite. Best of all no caffeine or jitters! ![]() |
