Stuff to drink on induction in addition to water
Hi all!
I realize that I must have at least 64 oz. of pure water on induction, but I was wondering if there is anything else out there to drink on induction in addition to the water (other than decaf coffee - yuck! and broths). Water alone does becoming boring after a while. Are things like Crystal Light Mixes or Kool Aide sugar free mixes o.k.? Also another question. This is the second time that I am starting induction. I quit after a week last time since I felt a lot of muscle weakness when I went running and my times were really bad. Is there anything that I can eat/do so that I don't experience this muscle weakness when I run? Also, (not to be gross or anything) I was really constipated and uncomfortable the first time around. I did as Dr. Atkin's recommended, drink a glass of water with 1 Tablespoon psyllium husks. Needless to say, it worked, but I had the opposite problem all day long and my stomach felt really off. Obiviously 1 Tablespoon of the husks was too much for me. I know that everyone's body responds differently and I maybe might have to play around with the amount of psyllium that I take, but generally speaking, how much psyllium does the trick? How much should I try to take next? Gracias Jennifer |

Hi Jennifer,
You can spice up the flavor of water by using a mix, but make sure that it is made only from an artificial sweetener such as Splenda. Getting enough water will also help with the muscle weakness you have experienced. People may experience some weakness the first few days while the body is adjusting to fat burning metabolism, so it may be a good idea for you to modify your workouts and decrease the intensity until you get passed the first week, and then you should be good to go to start your usual routine again. In terms of your constipation, first make sure that you are getting enough fiber from foods, maximizing your fiber intake from them by choosing the most fiber-rich veggies. If you find that you still need to supplement, maybe try starting with 1-2 teaspoons of psyllium and then play around with it to see what vegetable/supplement combination will work best for you. Good luck! |
