yeast and stalling

How does yeast cause a stall? I've seen it mentioned a few times as a reason for not losing.

Is it yeast you eat, or yeast your body grows or something else? And how would you tell if it's a problem?

Yeast overgrowth can cause your weight loss to stall. You can search "yeast' on the Atkins website, www.atkins.com.

Yeast is found naturally in your intestine but sometimes when there is an imbalance (decreased immune system, use of antibiotics) in the normal flora, yeast overgrows.

Symptoms include fatigue, gas, bloating...You can have a blood test taken and measure immune antibodies or eliminate the foods that are associated with the overgrowth (wine, cheese, mushrooms, anything that is moldy or fermented). You can get more specific info. from the website. It is also beneficial to use a probiotic/acidophilus.

I've read the information about yeast and what it can do. I have basically been stalled for 6 months. I keep losing and regaining the same 3-5lbs. I realize now, it all started when I began antibiotics for acne. I lost 30lbs from 1/4/04 to 3/30/04 and started antibiotics late march.
My question is this, do I have to cut out all of these mold and yeast foods, or is taking acidophilus enough? Do I really have to wait 4-6 weeks to see if it is working, even if I cut out the foods and take acidophilus? Is that how long it takes to kill off the extra yeast?

p.s. Is Feta cheese a fermented cheese to stay away from?
Is it really just Mozzerella and Cream Cheese that are ok?

Sorry, it took so long, I must have overlooked the thread.

Yes, you must avoid all the foods listed and take the acidophilus. For some people it takes longer than 4-6 weeks, to kill the yeast. It can take 3 months or longer in some cases even when cuttting out the foods. It is good we got to the bottom of this otherwise you might never see the results you hope to achieve.

Remember, now that you have yeast you may be more susceptible to getting it again. So, do not be too hasty in eating these foods that promote overgrowth. Yes, unfortunately it is only Mozzarella and cream cheese that is allowed.

I think this will help you.
