Questions for the Nutrionist/Thyroid related.
I am on full thyroid replacement after losing my thyroid with a tumour 7 years ago.
I am just at the end of my seventh week with Atkins and have been doing fine on a clean induction with up to 20 carbs a day. I have noticed a few symptons related to hypothyroidism including sensitivity to cold, aching in my arms (started this week) and very little energy gain BUT my weight loss has been good. Now I am reading threads on upping my carbs and I have not heard that before. Do I need to be at 30 to 35 carbs a day? And how do I do that in one day or should I gradually increase them over time. As I have a lot to lose I had intended to stay on induction for 6 or so months now I am worried I will slow my weight loss. HELP! A few weeks ago I started with Green Tea extract and through some reading today on the internet realised that may have caused carpal tunnel (that I have never had before) so I am eliminating that. Are thre any other supplements that I should not be taking while on thyroid replacement medication? Tracy

Have you discussed your symptoms with your doctor? I'm not actually sure about your specific situation. Your doctor will know best.
If you are losing on 20 grams of carbs great but, you must take into consideration if this small maount of carbs is or is not effecting your health as it specifically relates to your medical situtaion. I am sorry I cannot help you more but it truely is best to discuss this with your doctor who is more familiar with your situation. |
