Glucophage/Metformin
Wanted to find out before I get back into the Atkins mode if anyone out there is taking these meds and if Atkins way of eating is working for them. I have tried Atkins several times with limited success and in the last few months have been diagnosed "Insulin Resistant". So, following the Dr's diet I have managed to peel off about 15 lbs but it is very very slow. I went on vacation and was kinda "bad" and gained 6 lbs. I jumped back on Atkins, 4 days later it was gone, then I started having that "urinary thing" so I went back on the Dr's. diet. I'm ready to start Atkins again, since all of you have been so wonderful in calming my fears, and up my water intake but, I'm wondering if anyone else out there is on one of these medications and their results? Thanks, again I really feel I have support now!

Barb,
I have been taking Glucophage and doing a low carb diet. These seems to be helping when doing both togather. I lost 22lbs. in 3 months. lilmrschevy (Laura) |

I'm terribly insulin resistent - - it took an entire month to lose five pounds
*sigh*I'm on Met now - and my doc says with my condition, it's very important that I stay low carb. So I am plodding forward - - better five pounds lost than gained. |

Glucophage is one of the medications Dr. Atkins would prescribe.
I suggest you focus on sticking with the nutrition plan strictly and you may be surprised to find that the results you are looking for will be better than expected. Work with your doctor to adjust the medication as appropriate. |
